Marist Young Adult Program |
 |
|
 Dear Marist Young Adults,
I've got a confession to make. I'm a nerd. Maybe you knew that, or maybe you didn't. In the weeks preceding my first day of class, I found myself extremely eager to get back to school! My class schedule is excellent, while my classes are the toughest I have ever enrolled in. With that said, you may be wondering why I have been so excited.
Expectations! My expectations for this fourth and final year of college have prompted me to get ready to have a great year. I surely cannot control everything about this year, but my expectations give me something to act towards. In preparation for the year, I have organized myself (books, planner, etc.) like never before. When we expect something, we must also act!
Excitement for this new year also comes from the relationships that I have with friends and faculty at school, and with many of you. As a young adult community, we start a new school year and a new year for our program, as well! I pose a few questions to you as we begin again: What are you expecting the young adult community to look like this year? What are you expecting your school year to be like? What do you expect from God this year?
Now I pose a few challenges to you. How will you be present in the young adult program this year? How will you approach the new school year? How will you work with God to fulfill both of your expectations?!
Jesus tells us in James 2 that "faith, if it does not have works, is dead". Do not wait on your expectations, but find a way to make them real. Get excited! Become active. In your school, in our program, and in your faith.
God bless you all, and keep living Marist!
Luis Ramos
Chair, Marist Young Adults Advisory Committee
P.S. And speaking of expectations, expect a new look to our newsletter, a new YAP app., and a revamped website during the upcoming academic year.
