Hello Fellow Marists!

I hope and pray that you are all well at school, work, and in life. I just completed my spring break and am back at school. I wanted to make the most of the week off, and was able to connect with Marists from a variety of regions.  Whether it was a group of students from Marist High School in Chicago, faculty from across our province, students and young adults in the New York and New Jersey area, or the Marist Youth Group at Central Catholic High School, the gatherings gave me a renewed sense of community.

Interacting with so many Marists reminded me that both the Gospel and the Marist charism have a far reach. They are everywhere! And as a young adult community, we have tried spreading our light through the "got marist?" campaign. It has been a great success, not because it promotes our program, but because it promotes who we are. We are Marist, trying to make Jesus known and loved. We are also a community of service and the proceeds from the sale of our "got marist?" tee shirts will benefit children in need in Jamaica.

As we continue to move through our school year and through the remainder of 2014, let us think about how we take ownership of our faith community. How do we reach out to others with the gospel, especially those grouped as "other"?  Our community is an inclusive one that welcomes ALL people, not just those from our schools and social groups. How can we "make disciples of all nations" as we are called to in Matthew 28:19?  How can we be inclusive of those who are on the margins of society?

Remember to take some time to reflect on these and other questions that come to your mind. God bless you all, and keep living Marist!

 ONLINE RESOUCE

The Stations of the Cross is one of the most popular devotions within the Catholic Church.  The practice traces its roots to medieval times.  The purpose of the Stations is to reflect upon the major scenes of Christ's passion.  Churches traditionally offer the Stations of the Cross during Lent but if you re not able to attend a Church service, here are some virtual alternatives.

The online Stations of the Cross offered by Busted Halo depict how Jesus' teachings led directly to his death. Busted Halo's videos feature images of the Stations of the Cross from the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D.C.  To access the Stations, click on the image above.

FaithND offers Stations of the Cross that feature traditional images from the Sacred Heart Basilica on the Notre Dame campus.  The brief reflections relate daily life to the story of Jesus' death.  To visit the site, click on the icon above.

The Collaborative Ministries Office at Creighton University offers a variety of options for the Stations of the Cross from print and audio choices to the Stations of the Cross with Mary.  Many of their offerings are also available in Spanish.  To view the site, click on the logo above.
