Eight Years & 200 Newsletters Later
(I still love writing this for you)

Yup - 200th newsletter, eight years running! What to write about? Thanks to my friend and MGW green team member Bonnie Gonzales for suggesting that I dedicate this very special anniversary edition to my radio show guests. Not a challenge at all. I honestly stand in awe of the education I have received from guests I've interviewed over the past 8 years. They consistently inform and remind me of the many components necessary to sustain our beautiful planet, and the valiant efforts made globally by people and organizations who are working relentlessly to preserve and repair what we have.

For eight amazing years, I've been touched in ways I could never have imagined in my walk as Mrs. Green. I have laughed and cried with my guests. I've been overwhelmed and emotionally drained by the sheer impact of their stories, sometimes shutting me down completely for hours and even days as I come to grips with the stark and painful reality of things I could not dream up in a lifetime. But NEVER have I wanted to walk away because always, and I mean ALWAYS, I am inspired by their messages. I am a vessel for the greater good of our planet. I bring you - my faithful, generous, thoughtful, earth-loving tribe - news in a nutshell, available in weekly podcasts to be exact - 24/7. This is my calling; this is my gift to you and the way I choose to honor Mother Earth.

I wish I could highlight just ONE insight from every guest from the past 8 years but this newsletter would quickly become a chapter book and not a newsletter. (Book Number Two, perhaps?) As we get close to wrapping up 2015, I offer you just a few bright green nuggets from a few of our many impactful, brilliant guests all leading purpose driven lives. I invite and encourage you to ride with me on this journey, to share my passion and my love and respect for Mother Earth, and to share the great, green news with your own like-minded tribe. Each nugget delivers a link to the interview.

And my top three Green Nuggets are...

On breast cancer PREVENTION: Janet Nudelman, Director of Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and Director of Program Policy, Breast Cancer Fund - "There are chemicals in the environment that are contributing to increasing rates of breast cancer, that are contributing to increased risk of breast cancer for young people."

On Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs): James Gentile, PhD, Hope College, Dean for the Natural and Applied Sciences (now retired) - "What one needs to think about when it comes to GMOs, is it all depends on what genes are being moved around. All GMOs are not inherently bad."

On where preservation of the planet REALLY starts: Laurie David, mother, environmentalist, author, film producer "Everybody has to start growing their own stuff because you will just be amazed with what you can grow in a small amount of space. If you have an old boot around the house, you have enough space."

Truth be told, this was a REALLY hard newsletter to write because there is not ONE single guest I have interviewed that has not left a green nugget in my heart, mind and soul. I honor them and I honor you for being a part of this ever-growing community of people who care about this great planet of ours. And I hope you make the time to listen to some of them. You will be glad you did.

And PLEASE remember - Support for Mrs. Green's World comes, in part, from generous donors like you. Become a member. Thank you!

The Making of a Localist
Michael Shuman, Co-founder and Research Director, Cutting Edge Capital
Michael Shuman is an economist, attorney, author and entrepreneur, and one of the world's leading experts on community economics. AND he is a truly wonderful human being. Michael has given an average of more than one invited talk PER WEEK, mostly to local governments and universities for the past 30 years. I want to talk to Michael about lots of things and believe we would have no trouble doing a two hour show but for this show, I want to talk to Michael about two of his books: The Local Economy Solution - How Innovative, Self-Financing "Pollinator Enterprises Can Grow Jobs and Prosperity and his latest work Local Dollars, Local Sense - How to Shift Your Money from Wall Street to Main Street and Achieve Real Prosperity. The Blue Heart of our Planet
Dr. Sylvia Earle, Legendary Ocean Researcher
Sometimes, when a guest has the kind of bio like Dr. Earle, cut and paste is the best solution to capturing the greatness of this human being and her accomplishments. So here goes: National Geographic Society Explorer-in-Residence Dr. Sylvia A. Earle, called "Her Deepness" by the New Yorker and the New York Times, "Living Legend" by the Library of Congress, and first "Hero for the Planet" by Time magazine, is an oceanographer, explorer, author, and lecturer. She has experience as a field research scientist, government official, and director for corporate and nonprofit organizations, including the Kerr McGee Corporation, Dresser Industries, Oryx Energy, the Aspen Institute, the Conservation Fund, American Rivers, Mote Marine Laboratory, Duke University Marine Laboratory, Rutgers Institute for Marine Science, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, and Ocean Futures. Impressed? Well, there's more. Dr. Earle has authored more than 190 scientific, technical, and popular publications; lectured in more than 80 countries; and appeared in hundreds of radio and television productions. And now she will honor us with yet another interview. This show made possible due to the generous support of the Chapman Automotive Group.

Business Change Agent
Mal Warwick
Mal is an author, impact investor, and activist who reviews books on his blog and is one of three partners in the One World Play Project, a social enterprise he helped establish in Berkeley, California. One World Futbol manufactures and distributes a virtually indestructible soccer ball that never goes flat. The company distributed more than 1,500,000 balls during its first five years, bringing the joy of play to over 45 million disadvantaged children in more than 175 countries. Heard enough?  Well, there's LOTS more. Water Changes Everything
Scott Harrison,  Founder and CEO of charity: water
Scott spent almost 10 years as a nightclub promoter in New York City before leaving to volunteer on a hospital ship off the coast of Liberia, West Africa as a volunteer photojournalist. Returning home to New York City two years later, he founded the non-profit organization charity: water in 2006. Turning his full attention to the global water crisis and the world's 800 million people without clean water to drink, he created public installations and innovative online fundraising platforms to spread international awareness of the issue. In eight years, with the help of more than 500,000 donors worldwide, charity: water has raised over $180 million and funded over 16,000 water projects in 25 countries. When completed, those projects will provide over 5.2 million people with clean, safe drinking water. And guess what? 100% of the money raised by this charity goes DIRECTLY to the projects they support. How could you not want to hear about this amazing human being and this amazing charity? Hope you will join me. This show made possible due to the generous support of Habitat for Humanity.

This Crazy Time: Living Our Environmental Challenge
Tzeporah Berman
Truth be told, Tzeporah Berman is one of my heroes. I don't know where to begin. She is the author of the book This Crazy Time and it's a great book. She has been designing and winning environmental campaigns in Canada and internationally for 20 years. Ms. Berman currently works as a strategic advisor for dozens of environmental organizations, First Nations and philanthropic advisors on clean energy, oil sands and pipelines. She is the former co-director of Greenpeace International's Global Climate and Energy Program,  Executive Director and Co-founder of PowerUp Canada and Co-founder and Campaign Director of ForestEthics. And above all else, Tzeporah is a wife and mother who cares deeply and sincerely about this great planet of ours. I have heard her speak and I could not wait to share HER with the MGW tribe. Just pinch me. This show made possible due to the generous support of The Chapman Automotive Group.

With Super Bowl rapidly upon us, what I love about this show is that a) it was in Arizona and b) it was the greenest Super Bowl EVER! It is truly a fun AND informative show.
