Greetings!
One BIG Way to Green Your Holiday Shopping (It's called Made in the USA)
After writing 125 newsletters over the past four and a half years, it blows my mind that the ideas keep coming. As we all know, there really aren't many (if any) new ideas. There are just an infinite number of creative ways to present them. So what's new that I can tell you about REALLY thinking green this holiday season? Not much but I can remind you of one thing before I get to the BIG green idea. The first "R" is reduce - as in reduce your spending, reduce the amount of packaging that ends up in the landfill, and reduce your stress because by doing #1 and #2, you won't be up all night wrapping the night before Christmas.
Ready for the BIG green idea? This is a first for me. I am going to cut and paste something that was shared with me on Facebook by two dear friends and loyal Mrs. Green supporters, Cindy Godwin and Deb Filkins. Why? Because I can't add to it, improve upon it, expand on it. I am going to simply share ONE powerful message and I can't begin to imagine the impact if you read it, do what is suggested and help spread the word. I am going to take the pledge. I am going to go out of my way to find presents made in the USA and I am going to make sure I spend at least $64 on them this holiday season. I am going to make a difference for my country and for American workers. It just feels like the good, green thing to do.
The American Made Holiday Gift Guide 2012 is now live! Here you will find hand-picked gift ideas from companies and independent artisans that you can give with pride. The guide provides the conscious consumer with a place to find items that support our economy, protect the environment and give back to your community. Will you pledge to make it a Made in America Holiday?
Personal request from Mrs. Green: I don't usually ask you to push the "Forward email" button at the bottom of this newsletter, but in this case, I am doing just that. I not only feel strongly about this Made in the USA campaign, I am excited and passionate about it. Please help ignite the passion. Who knows? We might just start the right kind of revolution.

Silent Killer: The Movie
We use 380,000,000,000 of them every year. They are made primarily from petroleum and natural gas. They never biodegrade. They are the Silent Killers. They are plastic bags & we need to stop using them. Together, we can take small steps to make a big impact. What better time to remember to cut down on plastic bags? Your canvas shopping bags go anywhere!
The Inside Scoop from the Mrs. Green Team
So do you ever wonder if we here in Mrs. Green's World walk the walk or just talk the talk? Trust me - we REALLY walk the walk. What are we doing for our holiday gift exchange? We are going to bring donations for the Community Food Bank to our next team meeting. And, yes, we are going to overeat a little bit at that particular meeting. But fear not - we are not going to forget the importance of supporting the locals. After the craziness of the holidays has passed, we are going to celebrate another year of being part of a wonderful team of people who really like each other - at Renee's Organic Oven of course!
What's Going On at Sea of Green?
Shop locally, think globally. Can you think of a greener present to give someone than a plant purchased at a locally owned business? Check them out.

Little Injections of Wisdom
PLEASE NOTE: This show did not air on November 3 due to power outages as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Eric Sinoway - President & Co-founder of Axcess Worldwide & author of Howard's Gift Eric wrote this book to "capture and share little injections of wisdom" he received whenever he spent time with his teacher, colleague and now dear friend Howard Stevenson. Mr. Sinoway is an entrepreneur and a pioneer in corporate partnership development but he was shockingly reminded to make every day count when his friend suffered a near-fatal heart attack while walking across the campus at Harvard. This show will be of the sustaining your soul kind - likened already to Tuesdays with Morrie. Now that is saying something. Hope you will join us. This show sponsored by The Fairfax Companies.
December 22 Organic Valley, , Farmer-Owned Theresa Marquez - Mission Executive, Organic Valley I, for one, didn't get the result I had wanted on California Prop 37, but let's still have hope that mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods is on the horizon in our country. See what Organic Valley Mission Executive, Theresa Marquez, has to say about the proposition and other things going on around the country as it relates to food labeling. As you know, the tagline for my radio show is "We don't tell you what to think, we just want you to." I think we have a right to know what we are eating. Truth be told I am sure I will continue to eat some genetically modified food but I want to know it! This show sponsored by The Fairfax Companies.

Best of Show
Two Angry Moms - Amy Kalafa
(Note from Mrs. Green: So that everyone on the Mrs. Green team can be enjoying time with family & friends, we are proud to bring you Amy Kalafa once again. What better way to say goodbye to the old and bring in the new than by committing to healthy food for our children?) Is it a book? A movie? A movement? Yes! Amy Kalafa (one of those angry Moms) was stewing for years, packing her kids lunches from home and trying to get her community to pay attention to what kids are eating in school. When news of a national child health crisis began making headlines, Amy, an award-winning documentary filmmaker, decided to take the fight to film. Two Angry Moms is Amy's quest to learn what she and other parents need to know and do to get better food in their kids' schools. Are you ready for this one? I know I am. This show sponsored by Chapman Tucson.
