35th Annual Philadelphia Bar Foundation
Sunday, May 18th proved to be a gorgeous day for the Philadelphia Bar Association 5K Run/Walk. Over 1,300 participants, supporters and volunteers joined us at Memorial Hall for the Bar Run Race to help abused children find more stable lives.
Avid athletes, recreational runners, walkers and our friends at Students Run Philly Style participated in this annual event at our new location at Memorial Hall. Everyone seemed to enjoy the new course!
Family activities were offered - face painting, music from radio station More FM and ultimate Frisbee demonstrations and ticket give-aways from the Philadelphia Spinners. The Buchanan Ingersoll Rooney Kids Dash was also a big hit with the children!
Thank you to the Philadelphia Bar Association for decades of support, and to Caesar Rivise for overseeing the preparation and execution of this incredible event.

Funders' Breakfast:
On Tuesday, May 20th, Child Advocates hosted "Day with Data: Measuring Success" at Blank Rome. The Research and Evaluation Committee presented our customized Case Management & Outcomes Measurement Database.
Frank Cervone, Chris Kenty, Tracey Thomasey and our Stoneleigh Fellow Megan Stephens presented to funders, donors and leadership volunteers.
Those who attended learned how we are leaders in tracking and evaluating case practice to elevate the field of child representation.

Thaddeus Desmond, MSW, is Child Advocates' newest Social Worker, joining us after working for the Massachusetts State Department for Children and Families. Thaddeus graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Millersville University and obtained a Master's degree from Smith College for Social Work.
His favorite part of working in child advocacy is seeing children discover their resilience and come to recognize their abilities. Thaddeus grew up in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia and became interested in helping children by watching the gratifying work his mother did as a social worker. He says that witnessing the effects of his mother's advocacy on families and children led him to pursue his career.
When not working to change the story for Philadelphia's children,
Thaddeus enjoys being active by going to the gym and participating in competitive sporting activities. He recently set up a paintball day for our staff and ran in the 35th Annual Philadelphia Bar Foundation 5K Run/Walk!
Welcome, Thaddeus, to the team!
