About the Center for Excellence in Advocacy!
Child Advocates has long wished to respond to the needs of advocates throughout Pennsylvania with a statewide training program that would coordinate the region's knowledge-base. Through the establishment of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy (CEA), headquartered at Child Advocates, we will be positioned to expand our training capacity to respond to systemic needs in the following ways:
1) deliver advanced training to lawyers, judges, and court administrators statewide;
2) offer leadership, curriculum development and programs to provide substantive knowledge, sharpen trial and appellate skills, and offer contemporary best-practice approaches to child and parent representation;
3) develop and refine program evaluation models that measure learning, gauge participant satisfaction, and reveal what is popular and effective in training programs; and
4) create a distance-learning program so that colleagues from around the state can participate in a collegial learning experience without the burden and expense of travel.
The Center for Excellence in Advocacy looks forward to serving you. Be on the lookout for upcoming trainings!

Meet The Advocate: Katayun Jaffari
"Excellent" "Collaborative" "A committed and passionate advocate"
These are the words of Support Center for Child Advocates social workers and attorneys who have worked with Katayun Jaffari since she began as a Volunteer Attorney with us in 1998. Kathy, as she is known around here, has represented more than 10 child clients and sibling groups since she began volunteering with us.
Recognizing her dedication to Child Advocates and the passion she brings to our cause, the Board of Directors elected her as a member in 2004, where she joined the Executive Committee, first as Vice President and then as President from 2011-2013. Through her leadership as President, Kathy motivated staff and Board to lay the foundation for a strong future and saw the passage of new Strategic Plan: Vision 2020.
"Of course, the most important part of my experience with Child Advocates has been working directly with and for the children - there is nothing more gratifying. But I am also proud of what I was able to accomplish as a Board member and President."
Katy will be honored this year as a 2014 Distinguished Advocate at the Child Advocates Annual Benefit Reception & Auction.
Congratulations, Kathy, and Thank You for all you do!
