Listen to Tracey Thomasey on Kids Corner!
Tracey talked with Kathy O'Connell about sadness and depression in children and teens. As many as 1 in every 33 children may have depression; in teens, that number may be as high as 1 in 8.

Meet The Staff: Gerald Weaber
Two years ago, Gerald Weaber joined Child Advocates as Operations Manager. His role with us is invaluable. From overseeing purchasing needs, orienting and training new staff, ensuring staff's technology needs are being met, to maintaining the building, Gerald's job stays interesting as his role varies day to day. Gerald's favorite part of working at Child Advocates is providing meaningful support by helping the staff get back to work and stay on track after fixing issues.
Gerald has an extensive background in working with volunteer organizations including The Patchwork Family Center in New Jersey, where he helped fulfill the needs of children and their incarcerated mothers. He found the transition to Child Advocates to be natural, as the mission is close to his heart and he continues to play a role in children's lives.
Gerald considers himself an amateur historian. In his free time he enjoys researching genealogy and works with local school teachers to help keep the past relevant and interesting by engaging students with fun facts and stories of historical events and happenings that occurred in their towns. Gerald also loves to cook especially serving up shrimp with red beans and rice while listening to Louisiana-style dance music!
Thanks, Gerald, for keeping Child Advocates running smoothly!
