Meet the Advocate: Jan Platt, Database Coordinator

(From left: Child Advocate co-workers Jan Platt, Megan Rok,
Beth Herdmann & Laurie Ayler enjoy restaurant week at Ocean Prime!)
Jan Platt, one of our newest staff members, is the Child Advocates Database Administrator.  Jan works behind the scenes to ensure the fundraising efforts run smoothly.  Her job is to manage Raiser's Edge, a massive database used to track thousands of records of donor and volunteer information. Once donations are entered into the database she creates financial reports that show the Development team and Board of Directors how much money each appeal and event raises.  She is also in charge of making sure our donors and sponsors our properly thanked and recognized for their contributions.

Jan has extensive experience with Raiser's Edge from her prior work with two non-profit organizations, Lourdes Health System and Project HOME. She came to Child Advocates looking for a challenge and because of her passion to serve underprivileged children.  Jan has already implemented new procedures to improve our process to ensure a more effective and efficient system to track charitable giving.

Her favorite part about working at Child Advocates is the incredible staff. She admires that they are dedicated and work extremely hard, but are able to have fun together and let off steam at the same time.  Group activities, such as seeing the show "Wicked," going out for Restaurant Week and our recent staff retreat, have helped make Jan feel like part of the team.

Jan was born and raised in Lansdale, PA but currently lives in New Jersey.  She spends her weekends remodeling her home that was built in 1897. When she is not working on her house she makes the quick 15-minute commute to enjoy nights out in Philadelphia and to go to free concerts in the park.

Toy Drive 2013

United Way recently kicked off its season of giving and we are thrilled to be part of it (United Way Donor Choice #535).

Catch Frank Cervone, Moira Mulroney and other Child Advocate team members speaking around town at one of the many kick-off parties.  If you'd like to bring Child Advocates to your office, firm or company all you have to do is ask!  Email Moira Mulroney for more information and to find out more ways you or your company can give by clicking HERE.

Vote for Dolores Miller!

Eagle Rare Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is sponsoring the Eagle Rare Life contest celebrating the life of an individual doing incredible work in the community.

Know someone who leads a rare life? We do.  One of our 2012 Distinguished Advocates and good friend Dolores Miller is up for the award and if she wins she has selected Child Advocates as her charity of choice to receive a $40,000 award!

You can help Dolores and Child Advocates win by voting every day until January 7, 2014.  Vote HERE and remember to spread the word!
