8th Annual Child Advocates Golf Classic Recap!
Thank you to all of the golfers who joined us yesterday for a spectacular (and sunny) day of golfing. We are delighted and grateful to announce that we raised over $100,000 for Child Advocates Project for Medically Needy Children. We couldn't have done this without our amazing sponsors and friends. A special thank you to our Golf Classic Committee, chaired by Joe DeSimone, Kirk Katchen, Janie Mershon and Mike Verrill!

Meet the Advocate: Jan Platt, Database Coordinator
(From left: Child Advocate co-workers Jan Platt, Megan Rok, Beth Herdmann & Laurie Ayler enjoy restaurant week at Ocean Prime!)
Jan Platt, one of our newest staff members, is the Child Advocates Database Administrator. Jan works behind the scenes to ensure the fundraising efforts run smoothly. Her job is to manage Raiser's Edge, a massive database used to track thousands of records of donor and volunteer information. Once donations are entered into the database she creates financial reports that show the Development team and Board of Directors how much money each appeal and event raises. She is also in charge of making sure our donors and sponsors our properly thanked and recognized for their contributions.
Jan has extensive experience with Raiser's Edge from her prior work with two non-profit organizations, Lourdes Health System and Project HOME. She came to Child Advocates looking for a challenge and because of her passion to serve underprivileged children. Jan has already implemented new procedures to improve our process to ensure a more effective and efficient system to track charitable giving.
Her favorite part about working at Child Advocates is the incredible staff. She admires that they are dedicated and work extremely hard, but are able to have fun together and let off steam at the same time. Group activities, such as seeing the show "Wicked," going out for Restaurant Week and our recent staff retreat, have helped make Jan feel like part of the team.
Jan was born and raised in Lansdale, PA but currently lives in New Jersey. She spends her weekends remodeling her home that was built in 1897. When she is not working on her house she makes the quick 15-minute commute to enjoy nights out in Philadelphia and to go to free concerts in the park.
