A WORD FROM HILARY
Reflecting both on our last Presbytery meeting, May 17, and a scripture reading from Luke 6, I am struck with God's call to seek our core values as Presbyterians in Northeast Georgia. In seeking core values, simplicity invites us to go deeper. Many in and around the Presbytery resonate with me in this endeavor to focus on communication and relationships which connect all in going deeper. Along the way, new members to the Presbytery (those who have joined as members and staff since 2014) gathered for an afternoon at Harry's and my home as an opportunity to get to know each other in a more intimate setting.
Also, the Youth Council gathered in "the Bowl" last Saturday where they re-energized and re-envisioned who they are and made plans for the coming year. Kathy Boardman hosted an excellent time. Both of these events remind me to be open to change which is all around; and I recall my mother's wisdom not to think so much about what happens to us as much as how we respond to what-ever-it-is that happens to us.
Now, if I have your attention: Everyone in Northeast Georgia Presbytery is invited to the next "post-gleaning" conversation Friday, July 8, at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church in Augusta, beginning with a light lunch at 12:30 pm and a more structured conversation from 2:00 to 7:00 pm led by the Rev. Laurie J. Ferguson, PhD. And if you need overnight accommodations, please let Anita Green ([email protected]) know before June 8. We will also have some fellowship time on Saturday morning.
There will be two more opportunities in other locations before the October Presbytery meeting. Please join your Northeast Georgia Presbyterian sisters and brothers for at least one of these conversations.
