The year is coming to an end, as is the season for celebrating the many forms of Light we hold dear, ranging from the physical - the solstice - to the metaphysical - the religious rites celebrating the illumination given to us by the Divine and her incarnations. The sun is thought to symbolize the generosity of the Divine as it gives its light and warm equally to all beings, so too the Divine gives equally to all.
However, if our mind is agitated, for whatever reason, then we can't be fully present nor really give our attention to any gifts, whether they come from the Divine, our loved ones or even from the depths of our own being. We need our minds to be at peace to fully receive what is given, regardless of the source - God, Buddha, Christ, Para Atman, Self, nature, or friends and loved ones. We need to be at peace to really enjoy any gift.
May you give yourself the time to explore the exquisite nature of deep inner peace and the sublime stillness that hold unimaginable gifts for you and all you love.
May you truly know peace every day of your life.
May awe and delight arise within you over and over again.
Love to all,
Lawrence

The Way To Peace
Kali's Bazaar penned by Kalidas, p 57
The Way To Peace
Take refuge in your breath,
Let go of the mind and rest in the breath.
Like the very dearest of friends,
Your breath has accompanied you through all
the pains, sorrows, and joys of your life.
Take refuge in your breath,
With loving attention follow its every movement,
Unravel the mystery of where the breath
finds repose.
Listen with rapt attention to your dear friend,
The breath has been speaking to you
since you were born.
Discover the mantra it whispers to you continuously,
Affirming the infinitude of your Being.
HAMSA is the ground on which this mad dance
of existence pounds on...
Unravel the mystery of where mantra arises,
and where it dissolves.
Abide in Stillness -
the refuge of the breath,
the source of mantra,
the womb of all,
where form and emptiness embrace,
where Truth alone is revealed,
where Love dissolves the illusion of differences.
(HAMSA is the ancient Sanskrit mantra that throbs with the Consciousness of pure unbounded Being and translates simply as "I AM". It is said that every breath comes in with the sound Ham and goes out with the sound Sa.)

Thank you all
for your notes of appreciation for our
newsletter. It's great to hear from you!
Numerous people who attended the November meditation retreat wrote about their amazing and mind-stopping experiences of diksha, Shakti flowing through the mantras, chants, and the Maha Kali Yantra. Virtually everyone felt the Presence, the palpable, living Presence of the Divine that filled the sacred space of our meditation hall. I continue to hear from people who tell me the gifts of grace unfold for them through their practices at home and in everyday life. It truly was a grace-filled retreat. The genuine openhearted and dedicated nature of all who came must have been irresistible to the Divine! She came in all her glory!
We're working on scheduling the spring retreat, so keep in touch!
Everyone has
the heart to be a true friend of the soul, an
"Anam
Cara." By embodying that ideal we
may serve to help
others to find love and compassion within
themselves and the world.
Our highest nature is always
manifest in
relationship - to all other beings, to the
environment, community, loved ones, and in relation to our own body and
mind. Becoming mindful of the quality of our
relationships
allows us to learn where the light shines and
where it
needs to shine more. The ideal of Anam
Cara is to
continuously endeavor to expand the depth
and the
inclusiveness of the loving kindness we bring
into
every relationship, every moment, every breath.
If
you have any
suggestions, comments or sharings, for our
newsletter please don't
hesitate to e-mail me and I'll do my best to
respond.
