Chicago Air & Water Show Presented by Shell
Made In Chicago: World Class Jazz (Steve Coleman pictured)
Feel the rush and experience the thrill of the 57th Annual Air and Water Show presented by Shell, August 15th & 16th along the lake front from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach serving as show center from 10am to 3pm. A summertime favorite, each day includes demonstrations by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights, and U.S. Navy Parachute Team Leap Frogs, plus France's Breitling Jet Team in its first US tour. The acclaimed FREE weekly series features performances by Steve Coleman and the Five Elements, Juli Wood, Caroline Davis and Greg Ward. Each Thursday concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and begins with a short set by young, aspiring musicians from Chicago-area high schools as part of the Jazz Institute of Chicago's Jazz Links Student Ensembles. Chicago Cultural Center Residency for Arts Organizations Chicago Cultural Center Residency for Arts Organizations

Chicago-based arts and culture organizations looking for new and interesting programming space are encouraged to apply for a Chicago Cultural Center Residency. Selected resident organizations will have the opportunity to present 4 to 8 free public programs in spaces at the Chicago Cultural Center over the course of November 15, 2015 - May 31, 2016. Programs can reflect dance, theater, visual arts, music, fashion, culinary arts, film, literary arts, design or architecture disciplines and should provide insight into the arts and creative industries. Applications are due Monday, August 31, before 5pm. For more information and the application, visit cityofchicago.org/dcase.  

Fifth Star Awards
Fifth Star Awards 
Join us in honoring exemplary Chicago artists and arts institutions, who have made significant contributions in arts and culture at a free public celebration at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, September 16. This year's honorees are Sandra Cisneros, acclaimed author of several books including The House on Mango Street; beloved children's music performer and educator Ella Jenkins; prominent architect, theorist and designer Stanley Tigerman; Norm Winer, program director of legendary rock station WXRT; and The Joffrey Ballet celebrating 20 years in Chicago this season. The event will feature tribute videos and live performances honoring the recipients.

The Allstate Insurance Company is the lead sponsor for the Fifth Star Awards.
