Why Choose Christian Education?
 Dear OVU Alumni & Friends,
Prospective students often wonder, "What advantages come from a Christian education?" Good question. The short answer is: holistic.
A line from the Bible gives the foundation for what that means. Colossians 1:20 says that Christ "reconciles to himself all things." The rest of that short book makes it clear that "all things" includes everything that has been created, all wisdom and knowledge, and all philosophies and human traditions. In Christ we have a holistic view of life.
Christian education builds on that thought. Public education requires that all matters of faith be separated from academics. No prayer in schools. No faith assumptions in the classroom. A secular education excludes the Bible from discussion.
Christian education says that holistic instruction means that all academic issues be integrated with faith. It says that because Christ first reconciled all things to himself, we can build on that reconciliation to have a holistic worldview.
Why choose Christian education? In short, only Christian education includes "all things." As Colossians says, nothing is left out. Dr. Harold ShankPresident

Bob McCloy to Host Basketball/Baseball/Cheerleader Reunion at OVU Highland Days
Bob (Coach) McCloy is coming to Ohio Valley University for Highland Days, Saturday, November 3 for a special reunion with former players and cheerleaders. "Those were exciting teams and school spirit in those early pioneer days provided the foundation for OVU's sport programs.
Many of the players for Coach McCloy are planning on returning to the new campus to rekindle old friendships. "Those early athletes are responsible for much of the success of today's NCAA Division II programs," according to Jack Thorn, OVU Director of Alumni Relations. Coach McCloy is bringing back to campus one of the earliest films of Ohio Valley playing Mountain State Business College in Parkersburg. He is going to archive his coaching jacket and some of the original letter awards for athletes and his personal play book...

2011-12 OVU Bible Majors

New Internship Day for OVU Bible Majors
OVU Bible majors get wonderful experience while students at the university. In the past six years our students have had summer internships in West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ghana, Romania, and the United Kingdom.
Our process for helping students find their internships has been a bit disorganized in previous years. This year the School of Biblical Studies is trying to plan something new, a special Bible majors internship day, on our campus for Thursday, November 8. We will set up tables in the Alumni Gymnasium for all those who would like to have an intern for next summer. The goal is to have those doing the interviews available that day from 9:00-11:00 AM and from 1:00-3:00 PM.
Anyone who would like to participate, should contact Dr. Michael Moss (michael.moss@ovu.edu | 304.865.6123). Please put together a job description and an application so that students who are interested can fill it out prior to the event.
