Curriculum Night for Parents/Guardians
|
|
Don't forget -
Curriculum Night is this Thursday, September 18 from 6:30 - 8:30pm!
Schedule:
6:30-7:15pm Grades K-2 teachers present to parents (in classrooms)
7:20-7:40pm All meet in the cafetorium
7:45-8:30pm Grades 3-5 teachers present to parents (in classrooms)
PARKING - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
Given the number of families with students enrolled at Burr (more than 320 at last count!), Curriculum Night draws a very large crowd. The streets around Burr are simply not able to handle this level of parking, so
please walk or carpool if at all possible.
If you do park, please check all parking signs carefully and be sure to park legally and in a way that does not obstruct the flow of traffic or our neighbors' driveways. You MAY park in the Blue Zones and Bus Zones, but please do not park in the "No Parking" zones on Pine St. and Washburn Ave.
(You can view/print a detailed map of the Burr School Zone which shows the No Parking areas HERE.)
Even though it is technically legal after 4pm, the roads are very narrow; if cars line both sides of the street a dangerous and frustrating situation is created for everyone. Your cooperation will ensure that our neighbors are able to get to and from their homes safely, and that emergency vehicles are able to respond in case of an emergency. You can view/print a detailed map of the Burr School Zone - including parking restrictions - HERE.
In past years, residents have had to call the police to deal with traffic issues on Curriculum Night - please be a good neighbor to our neighbors (and avoid getting a ticket or tow!)
Thank you!

Volunteer in the Burr Library!
|
|
Volunteering in the library is a wonderful way to participate in the school and in your child's education! It's easy! You will get training to spend 30-45 minutes in the library (every week or every other week) helping your child's class: checking books in and out and putting books back on the shelves. Training will take place this Wednesday, September 17th 8:30-9:30am. If you volunteered last year you do not need to attend the training but you are very welcome to come!
Questions? Interested in volunteering? Contact Emma Woodward at emma.woodward@ictoan.net

BURR BULLETIN EDITORS NEEDED!
|
|

Are you interested in a great opportunity to help out at Burr that doesn't require you to come in to school or be available during the day? One you can do from home? Even in your PJ's? Get involved with the Burr Communications Team!
We need more Bulletin editors to take a turn (about once a month) putting together the weekly Bulletin - a process that usually takes just an hour or so, and can be done from anywhere with Internet access!
Without more editors, our ability to put out a weekly email bulletin is in jeopardy! Please get in touch with Ellen Chu (Bulletin Editor-in-Chief) or Sharon Reilly (Communications Coordinator) if you can help.
