Will Your Child March in the Parade?

Burr World Cultures Festival

Saturday, March 22

Flag Ordering Deadline is Tomorrow, Tuesday March 11

Preparations are underway for this year's festival--we had an amazing planning meeting last week.  We have also been very pleased to receive flyers from many of you about volunteering, contributing food, or having your children march in our Flag Parade at the festival.  Thank you!

Not feeling up for "hosting" a room at the Festival, but want your kids to march in our flag parade?  Please return your World Cultures Festival flyer in your child's folder or contacEllen Chu by Tuesday, March 11 so we can ensure that we have your country's flag ordered in time for the Festival.

Any other questions?  Please contact Dana Hanson or Cherie Bosarge-Dutton.

The Burr Bulletin Needs YOU!

Are you interested in a great opportunity to help out at Burr that doesn't require you to come in to school or be available during the day? One you can do from home - or anywhere - even in your PJ's?  Get involved with the Burr Communications Team! We're looking for more Bulletin editors to take a turn about once a month putting together the weekly Bulletin - a process that usually takes just an hour or two, and can be done from anywhere with Internet access! Please get in touch with Ellen Chu or Tricia Bombara.

Newton Parent Advisory Council for Special Education "Basic Rights in Special Education"
Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 7:30 pm

Please join us for the next meeting of the Newton Parent Advisory Council for Special Education (NewtonPAC), for a presentation on Basic Rights in Special Education, presented by Clare Vann of the Federation for Children with Special Needs (FCSN).

This workshop provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Massachusetts Special Education Law and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). It is designed to help parents learn how to be effective partners with their child's school to decide the child's eligibility for special education, and to plan, make decisions and monitor their child's progress in school.

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 7:30 pm, with light refreshments and networking beginning at 7:15 pm.  The location is Room 210 at the Education Center, 100 Walnut Street.   Any questions, please email Eileen Sandberg easandberg@aol.com   Thanks!
