Summertime Burr Family Garden Club!
| |
Jessica Avery coordinates our summer Burr Watering Garden Club and is still looking for volunteer families.
This group of parents is vital to the long-term success of our garden. When the kids arrive in the fall and see 10 foot sunflowers, giant cantaloupes, and riotous flower beds, it's because of YOUR work. Please contact Jessica as soon as possible to sign up for a full or partial week this summer. We'll give you the simple directions you need to lend a hand. No green thumbs necessary!
We invite Burr families, friends, and neighbors to visit our garden regularly all summer long. Ask your children which garden they helped plant and try to visit it a few times over the growing season through the fall. The garden/playground area is a great place to see Burr friends--late afternoons and early evenings are a popular time and you'll likely run into some folks you know while visiting! Vegetables may be harvested during the summer as long as a child is with an adult (let's try to let the cantaloupes grow as big as we can, though!).

Sharings and Celebrations and Field Trips...
Oh My!
| |
With so many wonderful activities going on at Burr in these last few weeks of school, there are lots of opportunities for parents to be at school, especially first thing in the morning. As you know, parking close to Burr can be a challenge at any time, and is especially so now. We encourage everyone to consider walking to school whenever possible, especially on class sharing and field trip days, as the traffic around the school increases exponentially. If you must drive, please consider parking a few blocks away and walking. All normal traffic and parking regulations are in effect; there is NO PARKING IN THE STAFF LOT, and all No Parking and Blue Zone regulations will be enforced to maintain safety in our school zone. (Please visit the website for complete information about Blue Zone hours and other parking and traffic regulations.)
