Burr Science & Engineering Week 2013 - Monday, Jan. 28 - Friday, Feb. 1
|
|
Does your career or hobby involve science, technology, engineering or math?
Would you be willing to share your excitement about one of these topics with a class of Burr students for 30 minutes?
We're organizing Burr's 9th Annual Science & Engineering Week, which brings parents into the classroom to provide our children with an exciting and accessible view of science, math, and technology. The kids love these presentations and they're easy and rewarding for the presenter.
We hope you'll participate by giving a 30-minute presentation to one or more class during the week of Jan 28th - Feb 1st. If you're interested, please use this link to provide us with the necessary information for scheduling by Wednesday, December 19th.
Email us at BurrScienceWeek@gmail.com with any questions or for more information. Thanks! Joanne Kotz and Ted Vahey

Book Fair a BIG Success!
|
|
Thank you! To the many parents who helped set-up, work shifts, and take down our wonderful Burr Book Fair after Thanksgiving.
The fair was a resounding success! Not only did Burr School get $2500 in cash, our high sales total meant we also earned over $900 in additional books for our classrooms, our library, and the book room.
Thank you also to parents and children alike who emptied piggy banks and supported the fair by purchasing "gift" books for their classrooms. These books will be enjoyed by students now and for years to come!
Happy holidays and happy reading! The Book Fair Committee

New Year's Open House

Times Square isn't the only fun place to spend New Year's Eve...the New Year's Open House at Newton City Hall has free live entertainment, face painting, refreshments and balloon animals! From 1:30 to 3:30 on December 31st, there are four different continuous live performances, so you can catch them all: the

Kids can get their faces painted and get a balloon animal to take home. Admission is a non-perishable food item for the Newton Food Pantries, a child's book, or winter clothing item for Cradles to Crayons. Visit our website for more information, or call 617-527-8283.
