Election Day Traffic Alert - Walk If You Can!
School Traffic Don't forget that tomorrow (Tuesday) is Election Day! The expected heavy turnout will bring
significant traffic and many drivers who are unaware of the Blue Zone restrictions and other parking regulations. Expect illegally parked cars, jaywalkers, traffic jams - and frustration for all. We strongly encourage everyone to walk (or take the bus) on Tuesday to help reduce congestion and increase safety around the school. If you must drive, consider parking several blocks away and walking. Whether you walk or drive, use extra caution, allow extra time and have extra patience!  Please remind kids to be very careful - there will be many distracted drivers who are unfamiliar with the area.  IMPORTANT: Please be aware that voters may be driving into the Staff Lot and blacktop area to get to the Handicap Parking spaces and the back door to the polls. Use extra caution when walking through these areas.

Election Day Bake Sale Reminder

Bake Sale Goodies
Thanks to the 20+ volunteers who have signed up to work a shift at tomorrow's Election Day Bake Sale! (See schedule
here.)  Remember: we need LOTS of product to sell, since voter turnout is expected to be very high.  Items can be home made or store bought. Please wrap and label everything!  In particular, please be sure to note if a product has nuts or other common allergens or is nut-free, dairy-free or gluten-free.  Goodies can be dropped off at the bake sale table any time from 7:00 am through 7:00 pm tomorrow (replenishment product is needed throughout the day, so don't worry about dropping off too late, there's no such thing!)  You can also drop your items tonight at Jessica Avery's house in West Newton or Tracy Carter's house in Auburndale -- email them to coordinate.  Questions?  Contact Kelly Brown or Allison Sharma.

Parent-Principal Coffee: Cyber Safety
This Friday, November 9 8:45am to 9:30am
Cafetorium

Coffee Please join Ms. Johal, Burr School staff members, and other parents to learn about cyber safety.  Children use a variety of online programs and each of them can have different safety concerns. We will share the Newton cyber safety curriculum and share some ways that you can support your child at home. Coffee provided - remember to be GREEN and BYOC (bring your own cup!)
