DIRECTIONS TO
 KRUM HIGH SCHOOL 
 Both the Dress Rehearsals and the Recital Showcase will be at the Krum High School Performance Center, which takes about 10 minutes to get to from DDC.  Take I-35 North, Exit #471 toward Krum, turn left on US-77, turn left onto the I-35 service road, turn right onto FM1173, go apprx 4 miles, (FM 1173 turns into E. McCart St.) and turn right onto Bobcat Blvd, Krum High School is all the way down Bobcat Blvd, and the Performance Center is a taller bldg on the right.

DON'T FORGET TO PICK UP YOUR RECITAL TICKETS IN THE OFFICE May 20 thru June 12!!!

Each dancer will receive 2 comp tickets to the recital.  These tickets are in the DDC office Mon thru Thu from 4:30-7pm from May 20 THRU WED, JUNE 12TH.  IF YOU DO NOT PICK THEM UP IN THE OFFICE, they will be under "Will Call" at the recital on Saturday, June 15th.  THEY WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT DRESS REHEARSALS.

We're also offering tickets online starting May 17th!  Please keep in mind there is a small fee for online purchases.  Click below to purchase additional tickets!

1-2pm

PLEASE REMEMBER...
 
ALL DANCERS SIT WITH THEIR CLASSES AND THE CLASS MOMS in THE CAFETERIA; THEY WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH THE SHOW ON A VIDEO-CAST FROM THE DRESSING ROOM.  However, IF YOU CHOOSE TO TAKE THEM INTO THE AUDITORIUM, they will only be allowed to leave the dressing room as long as their stage appearances are over.  THEY WILL NEED A TICKET as well as a change of clothes.
 
PLEASE DO NOT BRING DANCERS IN COSTUME INTO THE AUDIENCE!

DCCB TOUR TO AUSTRIA IN 2014!

DDC's Dance company, the Denton City Contemporary Ballet, was able to tour Austria in 2011 & now plans to go again in 2014!
Don't forget our first "Austria Meeting" this coming Saturday, May 11th at 12:30pm.  Any DCCB members that are interested in going need to be prepared to put a $275 deposit to hold our place sometime in May.  Bring a list of questions!
RECITAL PHOTOS TAKEN AT THE STUDIO NEXT WEEK!!!
Walter Eagleton of Eagleton's Photography will be taking our Recital Pictures next week.  The photo packages range in price from $18-$40.  PLEASE HAVE YOUR DANCER WEAR HIS/HER COSTUME TO BE IN THE GROUP PHOTO, even if you decide not to order the photos!
 
 
Hello DDC Dance Family! 

We are just a month away from DDC's 25th Annual Recital Showcase, "A Celebration!"  ALMOST all the info you need is included in this email! 

 

DRESS REHEARSAL SCHEDULE WILL BE POSTED IN THE HALLWAY & EMAILED Next WEEK IN A SEPARATE EMAIL!

 

Program 1 starts at 12:30pm June 15th, 2013
 (dancers there by 11:45am)
Program 2 starts at 3:30pm June 15th, 2013
 (dancers there by 2:45pm)

 

Your comp tickets (2 per dancer)  will be waiting for you in the DDC office (Mon-Thu 4:30-7pm May 20th thru June 12th) OR you can pick them up at the door at the Recital. Additional tickets may be purchased at $7/adults & seniors and $5/ages 18 & under in the office, at the door, or online (see article this newsletter).  NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET.

 

All AWARDS (certificates/medallions/trophies) AND RECITAL PICTURES will be available for pick up at the studio during our AWARDS PICK-UP & PRE-REGISTRATION DAY SATURDAY, JUNE 8TH from 10am-1pm. 

 

The dancers have worked very hard this year, and their improvement will be obvious on stage!  I would like to thank each and every one of you for choosing to have your child attend DDC!  We know you have a choice in what your children do and where they go to do it, and I and the faculty of DDC are so very blessed you have chosen us!!!

 The Panhandle House will be video taping our recital again this year.  Click below to print out a pdf of the order form.
         

 

Remember, we do not allow any photographs or videos to be taken at the recital due to copyright issues and for the safety of the dancers.  The videos will be shot in standard 2-camera format, and cost the same price as the last four years--$34.95  The Panhandle House accepts credit cards, checks, and money orders.  DEADLINE TO ORDER VIDEOS IS JULY 1st!!!  Unless you choose to have the video mailed to you, all dvd's will be delivered to DDC in August and available for pick up at our Registration Open House.

Stage Makeup & Ballerina Bun Tutorials
DanceCampers at table Make sure your dancer knows that the only reason dancers wear makeup on stage is to ensure that their features are visible to even the back row of the audience.  We do not wear makeup to be prettier or more handsome! Below are two YouTube videos that may help "de-mystify" the process:

Our 2013 Recital T-shirt designs are here!  You can see the design up close in the hallway.  The T-shirts were designed specifically for our 25TH YEAR.  WE HAVE EXTENDED THE DEADLINE TO MAY 11TH!!! The shirts come in White W/ Maroon & Black print or Charcoal with Black & White print.  The cost is $15 or $16.
 
PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE for Fall 2013
 is JUNE 15TH!
DanceCampers at tableCurrent DDC students are invited to Pre-Register for Fall 2013 classes in order to get the best selection for class times/schedules AND to receive 25% off the normal $20 Registraion Fee!  

  
ONLY THOSE DANCERS WHO ARE PRE-REGISTERED WILL RECEIVE A CLASS SCHEDULE IN THE MAIL AND ARE GUARANTEED A SPOT IN THE CLASS OF THEIR CHOICE!!!  Do not delay as classes are filled on a first come, first served basis!
CLASS MOMS NEEDED! (It has been suggested that if your dancer is in Program 1, you could volunteer to be a Class Mom for Program 2, and visa-versa...just a thought)
Please check the bulletin boards in the DDC hallway to make sure your DanceCampers at tabledancer's class has at least 2-4 class moms PER DANCE. PLEASE CONTACT MS. DEBORAH JACOBS IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT (940) 381-2100.  The success of our show really depends on these wonderful ladies, many of whom volunteer year after year! If you have not been able to help for awhile, PLEASE consider helping us out so that the dancers will feel comfortable and be able to find their way to the stage door!

 

PLEASE LABEL YOUR DANCER'S SHOES AND COSTUMES AS THIS MAKES IT MUCH EASIER TO KEEP TRACK OF THEM DURING DRESS REHEARSALS & RECITAL!

 

DRESS REHEARSAL MEANS THAT WE ALL WEAR HAIR, MAKEUP, TIGHTS, AND COSTUMES AS THEY ARE GOING TO BE FOR THE SHOW. 
This way, if there is anything that is unclear, or not uniform, we can address these things before the show.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK OUR AWARDS LIST AS WE DO NOT WANT TO MIS-SPELL  NAMES OR GIVE THE WRONG AWARD, OR NOT INCLUDE YOUR DANCER!

3-Day PreProfessional Workshop- June 24-26, 2013
SummerDance 2013 3 Day Workshop Join us for a 3-Day Summer Workshop for ages 11-14, with a focus on pre-professional ballet training, auditioning, and preparation for a career in dance.  Each day starts with a ballet barre warm-up, work on classical ballet variations, concepts in choreography, and more.  Our study sessions include Audition Do's & Don't(s), Pilates and Flexibility, Nutrition for dancers, Dance Resume Basics, Parents Q & A, and more!
Classes meet 10am-2pm daily.
