The theme for this year's recital is "25 Years, A Celebration!" All of our classes are finishing up their choreography in the next few weeks so that the dancers will have time to make the necessary adjustments to perform their very best! The costumes have already begun arriving at the studio, and some of them will be worn at DDC's appearance at the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival, April 27th, 3-4:30pm! (We should know which classes are performing by April 10th--keep an eye on the bulletin boards at the studio!) |

The Recital will be divided into 2 shows--Program 1 at 12:30pm and Program 2 at 3:30pm at KRUM HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMANCE CENTRE. (same place as "A Gift for Emma") The schedule for Recital Photos will be posted and emailed by May 1st. Prices for the photo packages range from $15-$35. PURCHASE OF THESE PHOTOS IS OPTIONAL, BUT I WOULD LIKE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS TO BE IN THE GROUP PHOTOS, so that I can "hang them in DDC's Hall of Fame".

As part of DDC's resident non-profit dance company, Denton City Contemporary Ballet's COMMUNITY MASTER CLASS SERIES, the THOM CLOWER SPRING BALLET INTENSIVE has become a DDC tradition for the last 12 years! I hope our dancers will be able to take advantage of this opportunity!
Known as one of the most energetic and inspiring teachers across the country, Thom Clower's "evangelistic" approach to teaching has touched the lives and careers of dancers across the country for over 26 years. With extensive training in Vaganova, Balanchine, Cechetti, and Bournonville, Mr. Clower combines the qualities of each one of these styles to present a technique that is true and versatile.
Since 2002, Thom Clower has traveled around the world as a free-lance teacher. Mr. Clower's work has included regional companies and schools, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Atlanta Ballet, as a regular guest at Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Master for Tanzsomer, on faculty of Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, and as Associate Ballet Master for Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo on their Australian/New Zealand Tour.

IT'S TIME TO LASSO THE WOLF!!! Come see our dancers perform to live orchestra with the ODYSSEUS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA in "Peter & the Wolf" and "Carnival of the Animals!"
|
Prokofiev's classic ballet has become the favorite of children worldwide. Imaginatively scored so that each character is represented by a particular instrument, the piece provides a playful way to introduce young audiences to the orchestra AND the ballet!
This version of "Peter & the Wolf," performed to live music played by the ODYSSEUS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, will be narrated by Mr. Dalton Gregory, a retired elementary school principal and Denton City Councilman. "Carnival of the Animals," one of Saint Saens' most well-known works, is a ballet set in 14 movements, each depicting an animal or set of animals. The Orchestration, conducted by Jason Lim, is at once humorous, satirical, and virtuosic providing a perfect foundation for Racina-Torre's choreography, which will be both classical AND contemporary highlighting DCCB's wide range of talent. Ms. Janet Latham, a veteran storyteller through the Texas Storytelling Festival and Tejas Storytelling Association Summer Conference, will be narrating the "Carnival of the Animals".
With both ballets offering original choreography, original costuming, and a live professional orchestra, this production promises to keep the audience fully engaged AND enchanted!

ATTENTION DANCE DADS!!!
This is the year that we at DDC have decided to feature our dancers' DADS in a "Dads' Dance!" Make your daughter proud, and join us for fun, comedy, and an easy-to-learn "macho" dance routine that will leave our audience wanting more!!!
