| Coastal Byways Kiosks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Thursday, October 31, the Door County Coastal Byways Council will officially unveil the new byways kiosks that are starting to be erected along the byway route. In 2011, the Federal Highway Administration awarded a $138,200 grant to participating Door County Coastal Byway member communities and partners to allow the Byway to coordinate and better convey the Byway story. The Coastal Byways Council contracted with Schmeeckle Reserve Interpreters from UW-Stevens Point to be consultants on the development of a comprehensive master interpretive plan and kiosk design. The first eight kiosks are up and will eventually be joined by four more. The kiosk project was also supported by Sturgeon Bay Utilities and a grant from the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation.
Sturgeon Bay Waterfront Project Update
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 The City of Sturgeon Bay continues to make significant progress on the implementation of its Westside waterfront redevelopment plan. To date, the city has obtained ownership of the former co-op feed mill, conducted a feasibility study, hired an engineering firm that determined the historic granary is structurally sound to be the centerpiece of a new brewpub, developed design concepts, and installed new sidewalks. The City recently let the contract to demolish all buildings on the site except the granary, and approved plans for a US Coast Guard Mobile Bay support building to be constructed in 2014. The public got a sneak peek of what Sturgeon Bay's future west waterfront could look like at a recent a public meeting to gather input on preliminary designs and public waterfront access. The City is currently seeking a developer for the four -season market project.
