Project Countries Celebrate World Day Against Child Labour 2015

This year's theme for World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) focused on quality education. Quality education is a permanent component of all ECLT Foundation-funded projects and is pursued mostly by enhancing school attendance and performance by improving the learning environment of children at school.

Our funded projects commemorated WDACL2015 with awareness-raising and celebratory events including speeches, games and competitions, dramas, dances, and parades. Celebrations and events highlighted the need to improve the learning environment of children at school and support access to quality education and other basic social services at the district and community level. Events were covered by local and national media.

Social Microloans Help Ziyada Iliyasova Provide for Her Children in Kyrgyzstan

Ziyada Iliyasova is a 40 year old widow from Kyrgyzstan who joined ECLT Foundation's funded Social Microloans project.

Before joining, Iliyasova lacked access to work and could not afford adequate food or clothing for her children. While Ziyada's husband was ill, her children were the only helpers to work under harsh conditions in their small field.

Because of ECLT Foundation's project, the family was able to double their land and was provided with a cow that became an additional source of income. The family can now afford to lay down a foundation for a new three-room house. Ziyada's children are concentrating on their studies and attending summer camp.
