Comings and Goings

Dear Colleagues, Letter
Dear Colleagues,

It is mere weeks until the Conference, and I look forward to connecting with all of you there again.  We have great registration numbers, reflecting the multi-sector participation that this conference is about - and the anniversary of the Multitype Library Board in Saskatchewan.

In conjunction with our Conference, we will once again be holding the SLA Annual General Meeting (AGM) along with complimentary breakfast.  I urge you to read the annual report, the agenda for the meeting, and all the related documents beforehand, so we can have a rich yet speedy conversation.  We got lots of work done this year on your behalf, and are eager to tell you all about it.  See you there!

CLA Forum 2016
CLA Forum 2016 Early Bird Registration ends on May 1!  This conference will be the last hurrah for CLA - the big send off - and will provide a Forum for national dialogue, excellent speakers, and looking toward.
There will be an important keynote speaker Chief Wilton Littlechild of the TRC and an incredible digitization panel for the closing luncheon, curated by Dr. Berthiaume of LAC. It really does promise to be a special event.

Saskatchewan Legislative Library Comings & Goings

Assistant Legislative Librarian, Pat Kolesar, retired at the end of April 2016 after 32 years of service with the Legislative Library.  The Legislative Library benefited greatly from Pat's knowledge, experience, and commitment. We are grateful to her, and we wish her the very best in her retirement!

In February, the Legislative Library welcomed Andy Fowler who joined our team as Reference Librarian, replacing Cameron McKay, who left his Reference Librarian position last fall.  Andy brings over 6 years' experience with the Legislative Library of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as 12 years' experience with the Memorial University Library. We are pleased to have Andy as part of our team.

Everyone, Including Culture, Wins When You Buy Lottery Tickets

The core funding that SLA receives through SaskCulture is part of the Lottery Trust where a percentage of every lottery ticket sold goes to support sport, culture and recreation groups within Saskatchewan. It appears that recent lottery sales are not meeting expectations, which will not have an immediate effect on SLA. However we encourage you to remind audiences and arts council members that buying lottery tickets benefits the entire community.  Saskatchewan Lotteries has also launched an app that you can download  in the App Store or Google Play. More information is available on the Saskatchewan Lotteries website.
