Academic Signing Ceremony for Top 25

On May 7, Milford High School recognized its academic achievers at the annual Top 25 Academic Signing Day for the class of 2014. After they shared their choice of college, all of the top 25 students were featured in a video produced by Miami Township Television in which they shared their biggest accomplishments, future plans, definition of success, and advice to younger students. A reception followed the ceremony.
The top 25 students received $3,190,932 in scholarship offers and, so far, have accepted $1.1 million in these scholarship dollars. These Milford seniors will be attending such schools as Northwestern, Vanderbilt, West Point, Georgetown, Ohio State, Indiana University, Miami University, the University of Cincinnati and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Public Auction of Seipelt and Main

Milford Main and Seipelt are up for auction. In April, Milford's Board of Education passed a resolution to place both properties up for public auction, which will be held on May 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Board of Education Office at 777 Gairfield Avenue.

As required by state law, the first step in the sale of both properties is for the property to be presented at auction. If an acceptable bid is received, the Board of Education has the option to proceed with that sale. If the bids are not acceptable, the Board then has the opportunity to directly sell the property.

For more information, go the news section the district website at www.milfordschools.org.

Stroll Through History-Saturday, May 17
Please join us on Saturday, May 17 for a "Stroll Through History" at the Korean War Memorial in Miami Meadows Park. Stop by any time between 1:00-3:00 p.m. and walk along the path to view the benches donated by our schools. Famous historical documents are inscribed on each bench.  Take a moment to read each famous passage with your children. Students can earn a certificate of achievement for reading through the monuments.

The Milford Show Choir will also be performing the Star Spangled Banner at 2 p.m. in celebration of the 200
 year anniversary of the anthem.

MJHS Paying it Forward

Milford Junior High staff and students once again shared their time and talent in the community during its second Pay It Forward Day. On April 24, MJHS 7th graders and staff were out doing good works throughout the entire Milford/Miami Township community. They weeded, mulched, planted flowers, packed weekend bags of food and drinks for students in need, made crafts with senior citizens, wrote positive chalk messages throughout town, and much more.

"What a great example the junior high has set for empowering our young people to serve others," shared Milford Superintendent, Dr. Robert Farrell. "Thank you to our junior high staff, families, and students for making Pay it Forward such a great tradition."
