Where did the Summer Go!!!...

It's always hard to believe that the end of Summer is coming. Summer Staff have all headed out and are back in school or back looking for jobs. We are still in retreat mode and have been blessed with some great groups of folks coming in for an end of Summer retreat. We never look forward to seeing Summer Staff leave, but we also know that it's time for the new season and we are excited for what God has planned for this Fall. We all here at LBBC trust that you had a great Summer and that things are gearing up for your Fall seasons as well.

FORGE Fall Retreat

October 14-16, 2016 are the dates for this years FORGE retreat. This is a Junior and Senior High event.

FORGE is a perfect weekend getaway. School is back in session, it's time for a re-charge as you jump hard into the rest of the semester. Rocky Hovda from Willmar is our speaker. Rocky is no stranger to LBBC and loves camp with every part of his being. This is going to be a spectacular weekend of Fun, Food, Craziness and Learning more about Jesus and how much He loves each of us... details are on the website or you can call the office  320-732-3218
Senior Adult Day

September 13 is our Annual Senior Adult Day. 10:00-2:00 Is set aside for you to come with friends and spend the day on the beautiful grounds here at LBBC. Check in is at 9:30 with coffee and cookies to start things off right. We'll head up to the chapel and enjoy some time of singing and fellowship up there, then head down to the Dining Hall for a banquet lunch and tours of the new Addition (Lake View South). We hope you are making plans to come and be a part of the great day we have planned for you.

Women's Retreat

"Prayer - Conversations with God"

The finishing touches are being applied for the 2016 Edition of the Lake Beauty Women's Retreat!   And the anticipation continues to grow, the weekend of September 23-25 simply cannot get here soon enough!!!

We can certainly begin to anticipate our Theme for the Weekend, "Prayer: Conversations with God" will be woven in and through all we do during our time together.   Our speaker for the weekend will be Julie Miller, to enforce our theme of Prayer, she is working on these four sessions.   The first night will be "Lord, Teach Me to Pray." The Saturday am session is "Be Still and Know." The Saturday evening session is called "I Have a Confession to Make." And the last session on Sunday will be on "Can You Hear Me Now?" on Supplication.

Julie will also be offering an optional time of Spiritual Direction during free-time, plus an interesting 'tool' that we can all use for prayer during one of our workshops.   Other workshops will include a time of reflection on "Dealing With the Loss of a Loved One", an opportunity for some of us to be introduced to a REFIT Dance/Fitness class, and we get to hear an update of all that is happening in our Covenant Women's Ministries.

Freetime options will include all of the favorites; Climbing Tower/Zip Line, Horse Rides, Skeet Shooting, Pontoon Rides, other High Rope options, plus a Saturday afternoon "Paint Party".   Our last thought is a challenge to you to prayerfully consider joining us this year, if you have never participated in the Women's Retreat before, or if you just have not been able to make it over the last couple years.

Hope to see you at the Women's retreat...
LBBC 54th Annual Meeting Announcement

It's time to mark your Calendars for the 54th Lake Beauty Bible Camp Annual Meeting.

Details will be coming out shortly to each of our member churches, but the date for the meeting is Saturday October 15, 2016.

This really is a significant event in the life of the camp. We vote on new board members, talk about the ministry of the past year and where we are moving in the next. It's a chance for people to get a hands on view of what is going on at your camp. We really hope that if you have not been a delegate from your church in the past that you would offer to go and be a delegate. There are so many things that are going on right now and God is showing up in some amazing ways. Meeting starts at 9:30 and there is coffee on way before that... so come early and spend the day...

A Word from Covenant Trust

Last month, we discussed the origin of Covenant Trust Company and shared some of the reasons the Evangelical Covenant Church owns a trust company. One of those reasons is that they saw a need in the church for the many investment, estate planning, and financial management services that a trust company can provide. This includes trustee services.
A trust is a legal relationship established when a person transfers assets to a trustee who then agrees to manage those assets solely for the benefit of the beneficiaries named in the document.
Basically, when you create a trust, you say four things to the trustee:
  • Here are certain assets. Manage them for me according to my direction.
  • Make payments to me from this trust at I direct.
  • If I become unable to look after my own affairs, take care of my financial needs and those of my spouse and dependents.
  • When I pass away, either continue to manage these assets for my spouse and dependents, or distribute the assets, according to my instructions in the trust agreement.
Individuals also use trusts when they want to give a gift to someone but control the use of the gift, like setting up a trust to be used for the education of grandchildren. Special trusts can be created for the supplemental needs of individuals on disability.
Trusts can take the burden of managing finances off of those not prepared to manage money or those without the time. The trustee will invest the trust assets, pay bills and expenses, and provide a statement of all trust activity so their actions are transparent. This can be a valuable service for a surviving spouse left to handle finances on their own.
A trust is different from a will as a trust allows for the management of your financial life both before and after death. You have complete control to distribute what you have put in your trust in whatever way you want. You can create a plan to provide resources to family or others that can be managed long after you are gone.
At CTC, our goal is to create the opportunity for people to do what they are called to do. We want to empower people to be generous with their lives in whatever way they feel called. Serving as trustee for our clients is one of the many ways we are able to this. For more information on trusts and the rest of our services, contact Steve Allison, your local Financial Services Representative, at 218-297-7701 or email him at srallison@covenanttrust.com.
