Summer Volunteers Needed!

We as staff here at camp have been praying to have over 150 more kids campers this summer. With those prayers, we have also been asking God to provide the volunteers needed to make each one of those weeks run smoothly.

If you, or someone you know, would be interested in being a cabin leader, working with maintenance, kitchen, housekeeping, or any other area of camp we would love to talk to you! There are many things that need to get done at camp to make a week of camp run. It takes a lot more than just cabin leaders, each place has its own mark on the week of camp and we need lots of hands to make everything happen.

If you are interested in any of the weeks listed, please contact Nellie at nellie@lbbc.com

As we head into staff training and summer camp, we would love to have you join us in prayer not only for these staff members but the campers as well. Climbing Wall Dedication

The newest addition to LBBC activities is the Indoor Climbing Wall in the gym. We have also added a new element called "Crate Stacking". Jordan Grabow a camper at LBBC wanted to do his Eagle Scout project at LBBC. After a long conversation we decided that a new climbing wall in the gym would be a great addition. It would provide opportunities on rain days in the summer and all year round fun for all ages. Jordan went to work, designed the wall, got it approved by the Scout Board, built it and installed it at LBBC. A couple of days after his initial call to LBBC, the Buer family called and said that with their mothers passing they would like to send the memorial money to LBBC to help with a project in their parents honor. We decided to combine the two projects and below are pictures of the Jordan Grabow, and the Buer siblings who came during the Memorial Day Family Camp for the dedication of the wall. We are thrilled to have this new addition and the fun that it will bring to many who come to retreat at LBBC.
Over a hundred of the Memorial Family campers came to the dedication and it was a thrill to hear from Jordan and the Buer family about how LBBC has been a significant place in their lives over the years.
We have a final engineering piece with the belay system that we hope to have complete before the first camp June 12th.

Memorial Day Family Camp Baptisms

The kick off to the 2016 Summer season is Memorial Day Family Camp and with it this year brought over 380 people. On the first night of camp 2 young people and their parents came up and asked if there could be a baptism service this weekend. LBBC had been the place where Jesus became real for these young people and we wanted to celebrate that fact with them. We shared that we would have one on Sunday and four young people came forward and met with Pastor Kendall Carlson the camp speaker and Brian Alnes the Camp Director. After a meeting with the young people we went to the water front after Sunday mornings chapel and they shared a personal testimony of Jesus' work in their lives and were baptized . Be praying for these four as they continue on their journey with Jesus...

Check out the New "Updated" Wish List

It's that time of year when people are thinking about cleaning house and maybe updating some furniture. We have received a couple of phone calls asking if we need any furniture with the addition coming to completion. As a matter of fact, we are looking for some furniture. If you have slightly used, still in good condition couches, love seats or end tables and lamps we would love to talk with you. We can make the pick up happen. These items would be going into the new addition upstairs and in the breezeway where we are creating a sitting/reading area for people while they are at camp. We are also looking for a good refrigerator to put up in the Solid Rock/Summer Staff area for people to keep their items. If you have something that you think might fit the bill for us, please contact the camp office. 320-732-3218 or lbbc@lbbc.com email. For a full list of items we are hoping to find click here . Thank you for considering LBBC as a place to donate items. It really does make a huge difference.

A Word from Covenant Trust

It's hard to believe that it's already June; how quickly 2016 is passing by. The remnants of winter have given way to the warmer, sunnier days of spring, and the long, hot, school-free days of summer aren't far behind. And before we know it, class will be back in session and tree leaves will don their autumnal reds and oranges.
The future seems so far away yet time moves swiftly. And in-between the present and the future, so much changes so rapidly. It's June now: what's changed in your life since January? What's changed since January 2015? Since 2014? As your life changes, so do your needs, and it's important to review your financial plans to make sure they are still adequate. Similarly, our financial decisions today will have an impact on our finances tomorrow. So while we enjoy the springs and summers of life, it's important that we prepare for the autumns and winters.
So ask yourself: does your budget still make sense? Do you need to update your will? What about the beneficiaries of your financial accounts? Are you still supporting your favorite ministries as much as you'd like? Are you saving enough for retirement? Are you withdrawing too little from your retirement accounts? Too much? Does your portfolio need to be rebalanced? Do you still have the time, energy, and focus to manage your finances on your own?
These are important questions to ask now because they will help you prepare for that fast-approaching future. Steve Allison, our local Financial Services Representative, can review these and other questions with you and help you prepare for whatever comes next. You can reach Steve by phone at 218-297-7701 or email him atsrallison@covenanttrust.com. We're happy to meet with you and discuss how we can serve you, no matter what season of life you're in.
