President's Ponderings

Summer 2016 at the Galilee Beach Club is finally just days away!  I'm sure you are looking forward to the opening as much as myself and the Board. It is going to be an exciting summer!

I would personally like to welcome each and every one to our hidden gem of a beach club at our Welcome Reception on June 26th.  We have many new seasonal members this season and there are also many new staff members at the Club as well.  With this in mind, please do not be offended or upset when asked if you are a member or a guest.

The Galilee Beach Club is an ever growing club, and like all organizations with growth, we are experiencing growing pains. Some of the issues we are addressing for this season include: instituting bi-weekly billing, developing a parking policy, and  implementing various ways to reach membership. Specific sections of this newsletter define and explain these changes.  Let us know what you think.

To start off the 2016 season, the annual Spring Shareholder Meeting is scheduled for June 26
th followed by the Welcome Reception for adult shareholders and seasonal members only.  In keeping with policy, Board Elections are scheduled to be held in October. As a result of the responses received from interested shareholders, a nominating committee has been formed. The committee includes Marcia Harrop, Joe Winthrop, Lisa Fiore, Mick Coppolino, and Dr. Dan Harrop.

Finally, in addition to enjoying our beautiful beach, we are so excited to have a jam packed entertainment schedule for the 2016 season.   To name a few events, Those Guys, Steve Smith and the Nakeds, Brass Attack, and nationally known Elvis Impersonator, Robert Black.  Remember to book early for all events!

Welcome to the 2016 GBC Season!  Let's make it the best season ever. See you on the beach!

Secretary's Summations

The Spring Shareholder Meeting will be held Sunday, June 26th at 3:00pm in the clubhouse. An agenda will be emailed out to Shareholders in the coming weeks. Please make every effort to attend, and if you are unable to do so, please send in your proxy form either by mail or email to  secretary@galileebeachclub.com.

Treasurer's Tallies
Peter Lapolla

With the summer season rapidly approaching, I would like to again remind all members that the club will be issuing billing statements via e-mail on a bi-weekly basis. Payment will be due within 14 days of the issuance of the bill.

As Treasurer, I ask that you regularly check your e-mail and GBC account for the bill, and more importantly, pay your bill in a timely manner.  The summer season is an expensive time for the club and the prompt payment of bills will help the club to better manage its cash flow.
Membership's Memos

We still have Dining and Weekday memberships available. If you have any friends or family interested in joining this season, ask them to send an email to membership@galileebeachclub.com for information

The Board has approved special short term function discount rates which are available for all members.  Check with our manager, David Field, for information on specific dates, times, and rates.
Entertainment's Events

Welcome Back to GBC!

To kick off another spectacular summer, there will be a cocktail party for adult members only (no guests) on Sunday, June 26th at 5:30 p.m. in the upstairs dining room and on the deck.  There will be pizza and games for the kids in the dugout during this time. Please make your reservations online so that Kevin knows how many will be attending.

Our entertainment for the summer will start with Steve Smith and the Nakeds on Saturday, July 2nd, followed by the bonfire on the 3rd!  Check out the Event Calendar on the GBC website for more entertainment that is scheduled!

The deck opens on Father's Day and will be open on Wednesday through Sunday for lunch. The dining room will open for Friday and Saturday nights starting July 1st.

Except for "Brass Attack",  there will be an Open Menu for all Saturday night events this summer.  The dugout will be open every day, weather permitting.

Don't forget to make your reservations for Friday night dinners and the every popular fire pits!  It's a perfect way to end a stressful week :)

I am looking for a volunteer to come up with Sunday craft/theme ideas for the kids.  We are hiring Christen again this year to help out, but she will need some assistance with ideas.  Please contact me if you are interested in helping out.

Building's Blurbs

David and his team have continued working on getting the club ready for both the function season and our membership season.  As soon as you pull into the parking lot, you will see a difference right away with a new layer of shells in the parking lot, mulch everywhere and the painted concrete entrance and walkways.  Marcia and her gardening elves have pruned the gardens and planted the flower boxes which are all in full bloom.

When the season starts, look for some surprises in the tunnel to the beach!  David is also working with contractors to shore up the loading dock so that the walk-in cooler can be safely and securely moved outside this fall.

Rules' Ruminations

Parking Lot Task Force - This task force met in the month of May to review the parking situation and to formally finalize and document our parking procedures.  Please click Here  to see the written procedure.  In summary, the task force proposed and the board agreed that for this year, no spots will be rented to the general public. With our increase in membership over the years, there has also been an increase in guests and their cars.  In order to best serve our membership, we will limit our parking to our members, guests, and staff.  We will monitor the activity and, if there are lots of unused spaces in the lot, it may make sense to reopen the lot to the general public. We can make that determination mid-season or at any time in the future.

The parking for all lots will continue to be serviced by our excellent valets to which we are accustomed.  As always, pull all the way into the main lot (being mindful of other cars who will need to pull in behind you) and the valet will park your car in one of our lots.  When you are ready to leave, the valet will retrieve your vehicle.

New for this year - On a trial basis, a guest reservation system for parking will be implemented.  A certain number of spots will be available to be reserved.  The reservation can be made by emailing the manager at parkingreservation@galileebeachclub.com and will be on a first come first serve basis.  To make the reservation, please provide your name, membership number, phone number and estimated time of arrival.  Once the reservation is made, your membership account will be charged whether or not you actually arrive.

As in the past, there will be some days when parking is restricted to members only who have a GBC parking pass.  Those days are generally the weekends of the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and VJ Day.  Reminders of these dates will be communicated throughout the season.  As a reminder, If you are not bringing your car to the beach that day, you can put your GBC parking pass in  your guest's car.  (See Guest section of the policy manual for rules related to guests.)

The new parking lot procedures will be reviewed at the owner's meeting. Please forward any questions and we will be sure to cover them at that time and share that information with the full membership.

Policy Manual - The "parking" section of our policy manual has been updated and posted to the website.  The section providing that valet parking be required for dinner events has been broadened to not only include July 3rd, but also other club events as deemed necessary.  A reminder that the parking availability for guests may be limited or closed on days where we anticipate high beach attendance has been included.  The final revision provides that trailers and other items are not allowed at the club during the season, as we may look to rent the lot as winter storage for those types of vehicles.

Reminder
- As mentioned in our last newsletter, a copy of the Wait List for membership add-ons (cabanas, apartments, bathhouses) will be available throughout the season in the manager's office.

Food Footnotes

The 2016 Season at the Galilee Beach Club is fast approaching with opening day on June 19th, Father's Day.  The deck and dugout will be open for lunch and we encourage members to make reservations.

On Sunday, June 26th, we will be hosting the Welcome Reception in the upstairs dining room and on the deck. Adult shareholders and seasonal members only are invited to attend this complimentary cocktail party that begins at 5:30 p.m.  Come enjoy great food, drinks and a chance for all to meet new members, as well as, mingle with old friends. Please make a reservation on line if you plan to attend. Hope to see all of you there!

We also have a great entertainment schedule lined up for this season. It's not too early to begin making plans for the 4th of July weekend.  Steve Smith and the Nakeds will be performing on Saturday night and our annual Summer Kick-Off Bonfire BBQ will be held on Sunday, July 3rd.  MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AS SEATING FILLS UP QUICKLY!!!!

Lastly,  I have received several requests for specialty food items.  I am happy to take any suggestions that members may have.  Many of the items requested will either be seen on our new menus or will be run as specials throughout the season.

Manager's Minutes

Season's Greetings to All,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am looking forward to the summer of 2016 with great anticipation.  It has been a very busy spring. The club is beginning to blossom and sparkle in the sunshine as the warm winds have finally come to greet us on the stunning shores of Galilee Beach Club.

I would like to thank all of the committee members who have helped me transition into the position of General Manager.  Your support and guidance are greatly appreciated.

Warm regards,
David Field
