Greetings!

Preparations for the 2015 season have begun. Read on for some of the details.

Happy Reading!

President's Ponderings
Kara Bell

As I begin my new "journey" as President, first and foremost, I'd like to thank Jackie Tracy for an outstanding job as President over the last two years. Jackie has positioned our club and myself for great successes. Fortunately, I have not started off with a super storm.  I would also like to thank the nominating committee, past Board of Directors and the Shareholders for their faith in me to represent the club as President. The Galilee Beach Club has been a part of who I am since I was a young child. I have so many fond memories and look forward to creating many more.

Hard to believe over the last month we have begun planning for the 2015 season and the future of the GBC. With the assistance of Kevin's agreement with Sysco, plans for a new kitchen have been created.   We are now creating a project plan and will begin obtaining quotes for the work and equipment. More to come next month.

There are many opportunities for all members, Shareholders and seasonal, to participate on committees and make an impact on our club.   I am asking each of you to consider participating on a committee. Some of the committees are, Dining & Function, Finance, Building and Grounds, Long Range Planning, Entertainment.   You name it we've got it at GBC.

I've heard many times from different members, Shareholders and seasonal, the Club should do this or why doesn't the club offer this. If you have suggestions or comments please send them to me at president@galileebeachclub.com

Treasurer's Tallies

It was great seeing so many people turn out for the annual shareholders meeting on October 5th.   It's encouraging to see members express their genuine concern for the future of GBC. It was also a time to welcome some new board members and to thank those who are stepping down to lesser roles within the club.

The shareholders accepted the 2015 budget as presented before them. It included a 5% increase in fees, which will help provide the much needed funds for both the capital expenditures and general operating expenses we will face in the upcoming year. Although some proposed minor changes to the budget were voted down, we will continue to look at the fee structure and propose any changes that seem appropriate. The financial strength of the club looks bright, and with that, I feel the fee structure could be adjusted accordingly.

We are very close to formalizing an offer on the property across the street. Of course, we will keep you informed of any progress on the matter.

Membership's Memos

The applications for the 2015 season will be sent out via E mail by the end of this month. The deposits will be due by December 1, 2014. Please remember, all fees for the 2014 season must be paid in full before the application may be processed. We have waiting lists for all add-on's (bathhouses, cabanas, apartments) and we would not want to see anyone lose these because they have not paid their bill. Once again, there will be a 2% discount if all the membership fees (minus the food minimum) is received by December 1st.

If you have any friends or relatives interested in joining, please advise them to send an e mail to Membership@galileebeachclub.com. We will be sending out applications to these prospective members before the end of January.
