Greetings!

Many members are volunteering their time working to make sure everyone has a great experience at our club. Read on to see some of the activities going on "behind the scenes".

Happy Reading!

President's Ponderings

I write this after just coming home from Family Night - BBQ and Volleyball. It was a beautiful night; there were kids and staff running all over the beach, and we were using our renovated Dugout. As you may know, Family Night is one of my favorite things of the summer.  Part of the reason for this is because there is no food in my fridge during the summer, and I have to eat! Another reason is the years of memories spending Family Night with my family - Dad would come down all the way from the city every Wednesday night to have dinner with us. A third reason is the ability to sit down in the middle of the week and have a good dinner enjoying the beautiful view. If you haven't come to a Family Night, put it on your summer to-do list. The Entertainment Committee is adding many fun events to future Family Nights. Did someone say Trivia??

Secretary's Summations

Just to remind everyone that should you wish a copy of the Shareholders' meeting minutes, they can be e-mailed to you on request. Send your requests to Secretary@galileebeachclub.com.

As requested at the meeting on the 29th, there will be an additional Shareholder meeting to be held on August 3rd, at 3:00 P.M. Please hold the date. There will be voting about the availability of the club's facilities for in-season functions.

Also, we can be more productive and speed up meetings if we follow the simple rules of debate.

  1. Only one person speaks at a time.

  2. Stand and be recognized by the chair before speaking.

  3. Formulate your motion carefully before presenting it.

  4. All remarks should be addressed to the chair.

  5. There should be no 'cross debate'.

  6. No one speaks twice to the same motion, until all wishing to have spoken.

Remember, silence gives consent. Those who do not vote allow the decision to be made by those who do vote.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 3rd.

Treasurer's Tallies

It was great seeing all of the Shareholders at the club's meeting on June 29th. It was also my pleasure to report that the club is in good financial shape.

I have received numerous e-mails questioning the June invoices that were mailed. Some members were confused as to why they would have a balance due when their minimum had not even been met yet.

Because of the seasonality of the club, cash flow is a very important part of club management. The gratuity and sales tax portion of the food and beverage charges need to be paid in a timely manner. For this reason, those charges are not applied against "prepaid" food minimums.

I can understand why this could cause some confusion, and please feel free to contact me at any time should you have any concerns.

Board's Briefs

The board met on Thursday, July 10th, at the club. Items covered included:

  • Accomplished tasks on the 30 day list.

  • Discussed the June Shareholder meeting.

  • Planned the August special Shareholders' meeting.

  • Discussed member non-sanctioned, non-sponsored discharge of fireworks on July 3rd and subsequent damage to neighboring property.

  • Discussed parking policies relate to guests and second passes.

  • Discussed operation of parking lot.

  • Struck the 'no changing in bathrooms' from the policy manual with the expectation that people will be courteous.

  • Approved a more efficient food delivery system.

  • Approved a formal Associate Purchase Policy.

  • Working on developing a template for a monthly financial statement.

Membership's Memos

One of the features of our new computer system is the ability to add pictures to the point of sale terminals. We will be taking pictures of families, and the pictures will appear on the terminals when the wait staff types a member's number. This will save the club money and labor producing the ID cards.

In order to speed up the process next spring, feel free to e-mail any photo you currently have of all the members listed under your membership. Please send this photo to manager@galileebeachclub.com.  Hopefully, this system will be up and running shortly, and we can start taking some pictures this season.
