Greetings!

Did you know that you can access your account online as well as sign up for dinners and events? Do you know who rocks? Do you know how to play Mahjong? Do you know when the first Family Night is? Check out below for all that information.

Happy Reading!

President's Ponderings

Happy, Happy Summer!! Gosh, at one point, I was starting to believe that I was never going to get to say that. It seemed like summer was never going to come, and now here we are! Woot! Woot!

Now that the weather is cooperating, the club activities are ramping up as well. If you haven't already read about them, check out the calendar online (see instructions in the membership section) or the listing of activities on our website on the Event Calendar page. All the menus (deck, dining, dugout) are on the website under Restaurant information. Don't forget; we also list activities and events on our Facebook page and on Twitter - so like us or follow us or both.

Over the last week, we had two great events at the club. Last Saturday, we had a new member orientation for those who joined this year or last year. We gave tours of the facilities, answered questions and helped everyone put names to faces. This past Wednesday, the club hosted the Narragansett Chamber Business After Hours. It was a great way to just plain show off our club. I couldn't believe how many questions we had about everything from walk-on memberships, to dining memberships, to outside functions. There were a number of applications and dining membership information sheets that were requested and distributed. Both of these events were organized by Tracy Kubricky, and I just have to say my sister rocks!!

Secretary's Summations

Please mark your calendar; our spring Shareholder meeting will be held at 2:30 P.M. on July 29th, prior to the Welcome Back Cocktail Party. An agenda has been sent out to all shareholders via email. Please make every effort to attend, and if you are unable to do so, please provide your proxy to secretary@galileebeachclub.com. .
Treasurer's Tallies

It is a pleasure to inform you that the Club ended the fiscal year ending November 30, 2013, with a net profit slightly higher than what was budgeted.

I am equally pleased to report that the general revenue and net profit for the current season is tracking favorably, as well.

Training on the club system was held over the past few weeks for both the food service and GBC personnel, and we are looking forward to a season with minimal billing issues. I hope everyone has taken advantage of the online system to review their account status and to see the upcoming schedules.

We recently made a change to our bookkeeping staff. We are grateful for the time and effort that Karen Tucker spent on our bookkeeping over the past several years. We wish her the best in the future. We also welcome aboard Lynn Viera Horne as our new bookkeeper. This change will not impact the general membership because, as in the past, all billing or financial inquiries should be directed to

treasurer@galileebeachclub.com.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Shareholder meeting on June 29th, and, of course, on the beach this summer.

Board's Briefs

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for graciously responding to Debbie Kelso's requests to clear the beach and parking lot.

Events that are remaining are posted on the events calendar and on the sandwich board next to the cabana court.

Building's Blurbs

Our General Contractor and his team have been busy all spring. We have had the hood and exhaust system painted to protect it from the elements and to get it to blend into the background. Work was done on the back of the beachside apartments to repair the shingles. The flat roof over the bathhouses was redone; the bathhouses were power washed and stained; and the stairs leading from the kitchen to the Dugout were repaired. In addition, the Dugout doorframe was re-sanded and painted.

Final work will include replacing a window by the upstairs office, a repair to the walls on the bathhouses over the Dugout, moving the walk-in fridge condenser, and some other odds and ends.

Check out the shutters and roping on the columns in the Dugout. Thank you again to our 2013 summer picture taking contest winners. Their pictures grace our walls beautifully. Coming soon are a few more touches!

Rules' Ruminations

Please don't forget that our full policy manual can be found on our website.

Strategic Sessions

The strategic planning committees are continuing to work on creating our futures plans. We are setting up our next meeting to refocus our efforts in this area.
Committee's Comments

Nominating Committee

Last call to our shareholders for people interested in being on the Nominating Committee

Nominating Committee Interest/Nominations - Nominations are now being accepted for the GBC Nominating Committee. Officers and directors are selected by our nominating committee and elected by the shareholders at our annual meeting to begin their terms immediately after the meeting. According to our bylaws, the board shall appoint a nominating committee "consisting of five shareholders in good standing." The makeup of the nominating committee shall be one member of the Board of Directors and four shareholders who do not hold an office in the Corporation and who are not chairpersons of a Corporation committee." To that end, the board has approved Donna Carlson to be the board representative and the Chair of the Nominating Committee.

Multiple Nominations - Because the nominating committee selects the board, these positions are intertwined. If you are interested in being on the board, you cannot sit on the nominating committee, as you cannot nominate yourself. The nominating committee will be announced at the Spring Shareholder meeting before the process of board nominations begins.

If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee or would like to nominate someone for this role, please send an email to President@galileebeachclub.com

All nominations to the Nominating Committee must be completed no later than Sunday June 22, 2014, at 5:00PM.  If you have any questions, please contact President@galileeebeachclub.com.

Food Footnotes

It was great to see everyone on opening day. I am looking forward to a great season. We are not opening for dinner service until after the weekend of June 29th, due to private parties. With that said, I am putting out  "Sips and Dips" this Sunday from 3:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M., as token of appreciation for the membership's understanding due to the disruption in regular hours because of the events that are occurring. Please stop up and enjoy some food on us.

Make your July 3rd BBQ reservation; we are starting to fill up.

The first family style Wednesday will be on July 9th. The theme will be Italian.

Next Sunday June 29th, will be the Welcome Back Cocktail Party for all members from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. I look forward to seeing all of you there.

To make a reservation, use the event calendar, call us at (401) 789-9675 or e-mail us at Reservations@galileebeachclub.com

Manager's Minutes

Please remember, due to the weekend events, cars must be out of the lot and members off the main beach by 4:30 P.M. Saturday and 5:30 P.M. on Sunday. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

**President's addition - moving our cars does not mean we need to leave the beach, just that the lot needs to be available for the function guests.  Please talk to Deb for parking suggestions.  Also, for the remaining Saturday and Sunday functions there could be some availability to park across the street.  We may be asked to move to the sides of the beach, so there isn't any photo bombing of the wedding ceremony. If you have a cabana, you can still stay overnight.**

For the summer, we will still do a monthly newsletter in July and August. However, we are adding weekly blasts providing information about the week's entertainment, events, and dining options, so keep watching your inboxes.

Our first event is the Welcome Back Cocktail Party. I hope to see many of you there. If not, well, I will be the red head sitting at the top of the beach.

Until Next Month,
