President's Ponderings
It's hot and sunny - almost 90 degrees and a great sign of things to come. Except, well, I am in Phoenix where I sit writing this on my iPad using the newsletter template that we have stored in a program called Dropbox. Big Whoop, right? Well, it actually is! Because of all the hard work and flexibility of the board members to adapt to many new technologies, we now have all of our current information, which includes letters, forms, etc., stored in the Dropbox allowing all of our board members to access them from wherever they are - even when standing next to you on the beach. Next, we will be putting our historical information into the Dropbox to allow for the same access. By using a conference line, your board has been able to "meet" every month to discuss the operations and strategic direction of the club. We store our board package in the Dropbox, and everyone can see all the materials. This allows our snowbirds and those driving their kids from here to there the ability to participate even when not physically at the meeting.
This season we are introducing some new technology to our members. Every member now has the ability to access his/her statement online to see what has been paid, what charges have been assessed, and even what you had for lunch in the Dugout on a particular day. The Membership section has the instructions for creating a log-in and accessing your account. If you have not already signed-up, please do so. We will also have people on "Welcome Day" available to show you how to do this in person. Logging in will also give you access to our GBC calendar, details about our various events, and reservation information. The calendar nerd that I am loves the fact that I can save the event right to my own personal calendar, as well. It's the little things you know!
It's the little things that all of our committee members have been collectively working on which are adding up to big things that we will all benefit from this summer. I cannot wait for this summer to finally get here.

I spent much of the winter being part of a massive effort to re-file permanent documents, policies, and templates in the Dropbox data base. I am now moving and creating files within the Dropbox to document the historical shareholder information. This will make the transition between changing boards more seamless. Part of the historical file will be a collection of anecdotes and photos from the past, so any that you have and are willing to share will be welcomed. They can be sent to Secretary@galileebeachclub.com or handed in personally at the Club.
Save the date - Spring Shareholder meeting Sunday June 29th.
I am looking forward to a warm, pleasant, and relaxing summer in our facility that is finally finished.

Treasurer's Tallies
I am pleased to announce that the Club is tracking ahead of budget in terms of general revenue, operating expenses, and net profit. There are no major unfavorable trends to report for the five months of operation that ended April 30, 2014.
This is due, in part, to all of the many members who donate their time and energy to make GBC a club of which we can all be proud. The financial health and success of the club is helped by a strong membership and the many committees that help it run smoothly.
Be cause of this strong financial picture, we can afford to keep the buildings and grounds in great shape and be ready for the busy summer months.
As always, thank you for your support and shared passion for the Galilee Beach Club!!

Function's Fan Fare
Hello everyone.
We have had a very active booking season with two May weddings, nine June Weddings, plus showers, graduation parties, and the like.
Monetarily speaking, for the year 2013, functions totaled $20,170, and so far for the year 2014, we have more than doubled that amount with a total of $48,255. We have already booked three weddings for the 2015 season.
Mindful of our members, any functions after Father's Day will take place in the late afternoon; most take place after 5:00 P.M. or 6:00 P.M. when most beach goers have left the beach and the parking lot. Please check the calendar that is posted on our web site. We hope this will not be a great inconvenience to anyone.
Many thanks to committee members Elaine Winthrop and Diane Placco and to volunteer Kara Bell.
Best Regards,
Josephine Curzake
Function Coordinator

Get ready for a summer of fun with this year's entertainment line up! Our first big weekend starts off with the annual July 3rd bonfire! Kevin will provide us with a tantalizing spread as Carolina Sounds livens up the party! There will be karaoke fun for everyone.
The 5th will feature the band "Black and White" in the main dining room from 8:00 - 11:30 P.M. We will close out this awesome weekend on the 6th with a GBC favorite the "Foreverly Brothers" on the beach from 1:00 - 5:00 P.M. This is just a snippet of the fun we have in store.
The website calendar has a list of the entire summer line up, so check it out, mark your calendars and make your reservations now!!!
Agnes Fiorenzano would like to organize Mahjong, Bridge, a Book Club, etc. Anyone interested in joining one of these fun groups or have any suggestions for others should call Agnes at 401-941-9243 or e-mail her at abf115@aol.com.

Building's Blurbs
Our spring maintenance work is scheduled and has begun. The Dugout floor will be finished, and then the heating units will be reset in their proper places. Then, all the fun stuff/decorative items will be added to the decor, including the pictures from last year's contest and the painted sign by the Dugout bar. On the outside of the building, the flat roof will be addressed, the trim over the lockers will be updated, and the locker doors will be painted. Please watch for any special announcements about emptying your locker; you know, if you happened to forget to empty it last fall....
Part of the spring work and summer maintenance includes creating and maintaining our gardens. If you have an interest in getting your hands dirty, planting, weeding and keeping our club looking beautiful, then please consider joining the Grounds Subcommittee. Just send a message to president@galileebeachclub.com if you are interested. Many, many thanks to Marcia Harrop for all the beautiful work that she has done so far. She even took home and nurtured the geraniums all winter so that they could be used again this summer. Go Marcia!!!

Committee's Comments
Strategic Planning
The Dining operation committee has been working with Kevin Millonzi and his staff setting up the menus for the coming season, now that this has been done we will start looking at some longer term planning.
|
Food Footnotes
We have completed the menu planning process with the menu development committee. First off, I want to thank everyone on the committee for their valuable insight, time, and dedication which will truly enhance the dining experience at the club. The menus reflect both the value and variety that we believe the membership is looking for.
Opening day will consist of specials geared for DAD. The Deck and Dugout will be open and the staff from Millonzi Fine Catering is eager to meet and greet the members. We will be passing out menus for the upcoming season, so be sure to get one and start making reservations for the weekends.
On June 29th, from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M., we will be featuring a Welcome Back Season Kick-Off Party for the full membership. The food will consist of appetizers and an Italian Antipasto Station. Everything is complimentary and everyone will receive a gratis drink ticket.
On an important note, back by popular demand, at the bar we will be featuring Kendal Jackson Chardonnay among many other varieties. PRICE PER GLASS IS $8.00 and BY THE BOTTTLE $32.00.
Make sure you like the club Facebook page and stay tuned for more details about events and entertainment happenings at the club this season.

Manager's Minutes
Hello All,
The annual club spring spruce up is well under way. With the aid of my two trusty employees, Patrick and Corey, we have managed to sort, clean, drag, pull, wash, oil, move and push just about everything we can get our hands on. We're not quite done yet, but expect to be in the next week or two.
The weather these past few days has been a great harbinger of things to come. I love how the escape road grows greener every day. I can't ask for a prettier place to spend my days.
Enjoying this,
Deb Kelso
