Board of Directors

long beach

Greetings!

Board Briefs, one last chance for us all to get together and an update on our software are some of the items in this issue.

Happy Reading!

President's Ponderings

I think one of the unique things about our club is that we are like a big ole family.  And yes, I do mean (but in a good way) a big ole crazy family, but when we need each other we band together to get whatever we need done, done.  So, I have to thank my actual family members - my sister and brother-in-law, Donald, as well as Marcia and Dan Harrop, Elaine Winthrop, Diane Placco, Kevin Millonzi and his staff, and various board members for banding together to step in and handle various things that we have needed to do for our fall functions. It makes me proud to be part of the GBC family.

Vice President's Views

First, I want to thank the more than 50% of you who took the time to complete the food survey. We have the results and want you to know the Board is taking your comments and suggestions very seriously. As soon as we have any changes to report, you'll be the first to know. We look forward to your continued input and support.

Secretary's Summations

Please mark your calendar; our annual Shareholder meeting will be held at 11:00 am on October 27th, prior to Patriots Game Day.  An agenda will be sent out prior to the meeting. We will be discussing and voting on several issues, so please make every effort to attend.

Treasurer's Tallies

The Finance Committee has prepared a DRAFT ONLY 2014 Budget and has submitted it to the Board of Directors for their review and comments.  The plan is to have the Budget approved by the full Board at the October Board Meeting and placed on the Agenda for acceptance at the October Shareholder's meeting.

Member statements have been mailed. Please be advised that the August statement does include all activity through the Labor Day Holiday. Please let us know if you did not receive your statement.

Quite a bit of progress has been made this past week, providing members with access to their individual account statement.  The next step calls for a training session with our accounting staff, and that will be followed by the assignment of user name/password that will grant our members access to their information.  Stay tuned.

A survey of our real property was conducted this week.  This survey will afford us with a clear measurement and definition of our property's boundaries. It is an important exercise as we continue to explore the feasibility of combining our commercial and vacant lots.  Though there is the potential for a major real estate tax reduction, we do need to determine what, if any, development rights would be sacrificed.

Board's Briefs

Membership's Memos

The 2014 applications will be sent out by November 1st. Please remember according to our by-laws:

"CABANAS/APARTMENTS AND BATHHOUSES:

Shareholders/Associates take priority over seasonal members and thus have first right of refusal to rent the cabana/apartment and/or bathhouse rented the previous year. This is also true even if the unit(s) were previously rented by a seasonal member. Seasonal members may retain their cabana/apartment and/or bathhouse unless there is a Shareholder/Associate who takes priority. Cabanas and bathhouses will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment history will be considered when approving rentals."

We do have a few ownership shares and Associate Memberships available. If you have any questions regarding costs and payment arrangements, please send us an email to membership@galileebeachclub.com.

If you are keeping track, I did get to be the last person to sit on the lifeguard chair before Rod Poland, our general contractor, and his team dragged it up the beach for the winter.  Here's hoping that winter isn't a long one and I get to sit on it again soon!
