Greetings!

Greetings!

It's our last week of events and there are lots of plans, but we are already in the process of planning for next year.

Happy Reading!

President's Ponderings

As we wind down the GBC season, we are already in the process of planning for next year.  Each committee has put together their budgets for next year, and the finance committee will be compiling the budget information to create the draft budget for the board's approval.  The nominating committee has put together a slate, which will also be submitted for board approval, and are working to identify future board and committee members.

We will also be looking for feedback from our members to help us plan for next summer and beyond.  To do so, we will be conducting two surveys.  The first is a food survey;  more information about this survey can be found in the membership section of the newsletter.  We will also be conducting a survey later in September to gather some feedback to help guide our strategic plan.  Please complete both surveys when you receive them, so we have the best information to help us be the best club that we can be.

Treasurer's Tallies

We continue to work thru the billing issue encountered in July and are now confident that we have identified the computer glitch (related to overriding of a dugout transaction involving the addition of a gratuity) and have made the appropriate programming correction.  For those affected by this transaction, rest assured that we will not assess any late fee charges for any delayed payment.  However, we do ask that you remit the corrected amount at your earliest convenience.

On behalf of the Club, we extend our apologies for any inconvenience that this may have caused.  We are committed to providing you with the best billing service possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me at: Treasurer@galileebeachclub.com. with any questions or comments.

Food Survey - Later this afternoon, we will be sending out the "Galilee Beach Club Summer 2013 Food Service Survey" via email. Please complete and submit it by the end of the day September 2nd (Labor Day).  If you do not get your survey or have any trouble completing it, please send an email to membership@galileebeachclub.com.

As you know, you may bring your own food & drinks to the beach after Labor Day. There will be one change this year. Weather permitting, Kevin will have the Dugout open on weekends with a limited menu. The bar will also be open in the Dugout.

Just a reminder, through Labor Day weekend we will have a Food Drive for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. If you are packing up your summer house for the season, please consider bringing in your non-perishables to be donated. This is a great way to give back to our community!

Entertainment's Events

It's hard to believe it is the last weekend of the summer!  However, it is definitely going to be one of the best with jam-packed fun!

We are going to start things off with another Adult Clambake on Friday night, starting at 6pm.  Thanks to Kevin, Justin Mack will be singing to make it a night to remember.  Kevin has an amazing meal planned and the fire pits will be available to make the night complete.  This is one you don't want to miss, so make your reservations now!

On Saturday night, we will have the Jazz Strollers in the dining room for dinner and dancing.  One of our members follows this band weekly and tells me they are amazing entertainers.  They will be at the GBC from 7:30pm-11:30pm, so make your reservations.

Lastly, on Sunday, we will be having an End of the Season Barbeque and Bonfire for the whole family.  The night would not be complete without Carolina Sound and karaoke starting at 7pm. I think this is the marathon day at the beach, so make your reservations now for dinner! The weather forecast for the weekend looks beautiful, so plan on spending all of it at the GBC for one last blast of fun!

Building's Blurbs

LAST CALL - August Contest - Photo contest of scenes from the local area. The winning shots will be framed and hung in the Dugout this fall and will be on display starting next season. Again there is no age minimum, age limit, or limit to the number of entries. To enter, get out your camera and take some local pictures (the rocks, the club itself, the light house, sand, rocks, the marsh, etc., etc.), then send the electronic file(s) to president@galileebeachclub.com. We will have several winners in this contest, so feel free to enter multiple times throughout the month. All entries must be received THIS FRIDAY, August 30th, and the winners will be announced at the end of summer BBQ. The selection will also be done blindly by our judging committee. Good luck!

By the time you are reading this, the sound system and speakers should be installed and working.  So now, even in the Dugout, we can Rock 'n Roll baby!!!

Manager's Minutes

Wow, the summer is coming to an end, and I can honestly say it has been an honor and a pleasure to meet all of you!  We have one more big weekend planned, and I hope to see you all there!!!  There will be Friday night fires; Saturday come dance with the Jazz Strollers; and ,of course, ending on Sunday with a bonfire and Carolina Sound.  I can't wait to spend the last weekend with all of you and hope to see you all next year!

I hope to see many of you at the End of Summer BBQ on Sunday Night.  I won't say it's one of my favorite nights of the year, but this event certainly makes it a little easier for me to end another season at the GBC.

Until Next Time,
