Through Labor Day weekend we will have a food collection for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. If you are packing up your summer house for the season, please consider bringing in your non-perishables to be donated.

Well, another great weekend is on the docket!!!  We will start things off Friday with another Vendor Night and a Wine/Spirit Tasting!  This event was such a big hit the last time we thought, Why not do it again? so get there early.  The night will feature the tastings and shopping from 6pm-7Ppm.  Then, it will be followed up with a fabulous dinner and fire pits, starting at 7pm.  

Saturday has something for everyone.  Kara will be in the dugout with Krafts for the kids from 1pm-3pm.  We will finish things off with the band Lola and the Pallbearers.  This band features light rock, including the top 40. The lead singer has an amazing voice and Kevin has planned another great meal, so you don't want to miss out! 

On Sunday, we will have the Foreverly Brothers on the beach from 1pm-5pm.  Kevin will also be featuring a Raw Bar all day to make the long weekend extra special.  The day will be capped off with Sips and Dips from 4pm-5pm.

Looking ahead, make your reservations for Dancing Under the Stars on Saturday the 17th.  This night is a summer favorite with the dance floor on the beach and an amazing meal to make the night complete!  On the 18th, we will once again have Beach Soccer for the kids from 1pm-2pm. Lastly, on the 21st, we will have another Movie/Karaoke Night following the Family Italian Dinner.  This night was so much fun the last time, so make sure you mark your calendars!

The dugout and beach speaker systems are being installed this week.  

And the winner is....Thirty-one suggestions for the Dugout bar area were given to the judging committee for selection of the winning name.  The judging committee received the suggestions exactly as they were received (and any explanation or background provided),excluding the submitter's name.  The winning name was truly a blind selection.  (Because I know you were going to ask how it was done!)  Hands down option #8 The Sandbar submitted by Ann Cibelli was the winner.  Her prize is two-fold - she gets to paint the name on the wall (because I know she can), but she will also get an actual prize to take home.

Moving on to our August Contest - This will be a photo contest of scenes from the local area. The winning shots will be framed and hung in the dugout this fall and will be on display starting next season.  Again, there is no age minimum, age limit, nor limit to the number of entries you can make.  To enter, get out your camera and take some local pictures (the rocks, the club itself, the light house, sand, rocks, the marsh, etc., etc.), then send the electronic file(s) to president@galileebeachclub.com.  We will have several winners in this contest so fell free to enter multiple times throughout the month.  All entries must be received by Friday, August 30th, and the winners will be announced at the end of the summer BBQ.  The selection will also be done blindly by our judging committee.  Good luck!
