President's Ponderings
As I have been on the deck on Sundays enjoying Sips and Dips, I have to admit I have been a little jealous of all the kids' activities that the staff has been putting together on Sunday afternoons. It's not that I wanted to be out there running to a base filled with oatmeal or hitting an oversized volleyball, but I wish those activities were available to keep us occupied on Sunday afternoons when I was that age. Sips and Dips was a sacred adult time, and we knew not to go near the clubhouse during that time unless someone was drowning or bleeding profusely. We couldn't have gotten upstairs that easily anyway because there weren't any stairs, and if I remember correctly, there was not even a deck in the early days. We also feared the repercussions of entering the club with bare feet! The little kids were left to entertain themselves, and I do recall a time or two looking up at the big windows wishing for the day when I could be "big enough to enjoy Sips and Dips." Now that I am allowed that "big girl" privilege, I also appreciate the fact that I now get to enjoy Sunday afternoons with some of the people with whom I first sat with on that deck when the privilege was still shiny and new. The collective memories of all these Sundays at the GBC and hopefully many more to come, that's what we are all about! |

Membership's Memos
We now have WIFI available on the beach and in the clubhouse. The network is called GBC-Public. No password is needed.
I know it is hard to believe; however, not everyone is reading the newsletters. Please tell your fellow club members about all the good information you obtained from the newsletter in case they are not reading their copies. Please remember to forward any email changes to membership@galileebeachclub.com. Also, if you think you have missed a past issue or would like to reread a prior issue, the newsletter archive is available both on the website www.galileebeachclub.com and by clicking the link in the table of contents on the left of each newsletter. |

Building's Blurbs
The bathroom has passed its initial ADA inspection, and we are waiting for the tile to arrive to complete the work in this room.
In the meantime, there are two opportunities for everyone to get involved in building and grounds. This summer we will be holding two contests to help us finalize the Dugout work. The first will be held in July and the second in August. There is no limit to the number of entries and no age floor or ceiling for participants, so these are contests the whole family can play! Yes, there will be prizes.
July Contest - This was suggested by someone at the beer tasting as he/she was checking out both the lovely beach view and the beautiful new bar area in the Dugout where one can now sit, drink, and watch TV. Someone said that we should give that section of the dugout a name. That sounded like a great idea - so here's your chance to name the bar corner of the Dugout! Please send your suggestions to Jackie's email at president@galileebeachclub.com by noon on July 31st; she will then provide the suggestions to the judging committee (and no, we aren't telling who it is) who will pick the winning name for that area of the Dugout.
August Contest - This will be a photo contest of scenes from the local area. The winning shots will be framed and hung in the dugout this fall and next season. More details will follow about the submissions but start taking your snapshots now. |

Manager's Minutes
Well, the sun is finally shining, the water is warming up, and fun and exciting things have been planned! Last Sunday we had Beach Gymnastics, and who knew we had such talented children who belong to the club? The kids were balancing, tumbling, and, yes, even flipping. I can't wait to get the pictures developed and post them around the club; make sure you check them out! This Saturday is Family Fun Day, and I can hardly wait to see the children's faces when they see the beach turned into a golf course! Check out the boards on the shed and next to the tunnel for all upcoming events, like our upcoming wine tasting event Friday night with visiting vendors, including our very own GBC table!
The GBC has gone Green! Please throw away all recyclables in the large green bins located at the Dugout and the entrance of the tunnel. Thank you to everyone for participating.
With nice weather comes a very busy and full parking lot. Please be aware that the club only allows three guest cars to park on Saturday and Sunday; this ensures that all members have a place to park. This is determined on a first come basis. |
|
Checking out all the great upcoming menus and thinking about the frozen drinks I haven't yet tried, I am wondering why we didn't include a treadmill in the dugout! I guess we will all have to walk the beach a few more times.
Until Next Time,
Jacquelyn H. Tracy
