Greetings!

Greetings!

Our activities are in full swing. Be sure to check out all the fun happenings in the coming week, as well as a special event on bonfire night.

Happy Reading!

President's Ponderings

This past weekend, seeing all the activity on the deck, I was reminded of my days managing the deck when it first opened. I still remember clearly the weekend days when it seemed like everyone came up from the beach at the same time and wanted to eat lunch. My heart would sink as I knew we wouldn't be able to serve everyone all at once. One time, I left a poor couple sitting in the bar area for over an hour waiting for their order to be taken. It was years before I didn't feel guilty when I saw them on the beach. So, I appreciate the staff's and members' patience and understanding as we work with our makeshift operation waiting for the Dugout's completion. Keep reading to see when that will be.
Secretary's Summations

Shareholder Meeting Reminder: Spring shareholders' meeting will be held on Sunday, July 7th,at noon in the dining room.

Please make every effort to attend, as a quorum will be necessary in order for any business to take place.  A proxy form is available should you not be able to attend. When completed, this can be handed to the person you designate or given to me by Friday July 5th.

Without a quorum, no business can be conducted, and the meeting will need to be called again, so please use your proxy if unable to attend.

Also please note that the by-laws require that all shareholders be in good standing in order to attend the meeting.

ARTICLE III, SECTION 3: D. Any shareholder not eligible to vote or not in good standing shall not be allowed to be in attendance at Corporation meetings

Building's Blurbs

Dugout Opening Plan
We have the health inspection scheduled for Friday afternoon and electrical and plumbing inspections throughout this week. The building inspector will come Monday for the final approval and the Certificate of Occupancy.  If all goes well (THINK GOOD THOUGHTS), the dugout will be operational on Tuesday.  Kevin is planning for his full food delivery on Monday, so that he can be stocked and ready to go for Tuesday.

Dugout Odds and Ends
What was the hold-up?  There were some issues with the floor that put the timeline behind by about two weeks, as we were waiting for the final two steps in the floor process before doing the finish work.  In order to prevent further delays, we have worked with the floor vendor so he will complete the prep work and final two steps in the fall to prevent any further delays to the Dugout's opening.

What does this mean?  Some of the finish work such as the installation of the roping on the columns, the addition of the heating system, and the finish work of the baseboards will not be started until after the floor is done. However, the Dugout will be operational and food service will begin next week.

REMINDER: Please don't put anything other than toilet paper in the toilets. Paper towels and other objects tend to plug up the system which is never a good thing on a weekend.
Rules' Ruminations

The current Galilee Beach Club Policy and Operations Manual will be posted on our website shortly. The manual has been updated, amended, reviewed, and approved by the GBC Board of Directors. Your attention to all the GBC rules and operating policies are required for an enjoyable and successful season. Hard copies are available in the Manager's shed.  Questions, clarifications, and/or comments may be emailed to Rules@galileebeachclub.com.

Manager's Minutes

Beach Cleaning - As in prior years, the beach went through its normal preseason cleaning, however there is still hurricane debris (from the club and wherever else) underneath the surface that keeps churning up. Our staff has also walked the beach, looking for and removing obvious debris. A second more detailed cleaning has been done (with special thanks to our neighbor Nick Cardi) to try to remove some of the items under the surface. The staff will keep an eye out for additional items.  Please let them know if there are any areas of the beach that need extra attention. In the meantime, we recommend that special caution be taken and that shoes (for adults and children) be worn on the beach at all times.

Rafts, etc - One of the unique features of our beach is that flotation devices are allowed. However, the use of these is at the lifeguards' discretion. Also, lifeguards may close the beach to swimming whenever they feel conditions are unsafe.   Members are not to swim from the club beach when the lifeguard is not available.

Reminder - Shirts and shoes (and yes pants!!) are required on the deck and in the dining room at all times.
I hope to see you at the ribbon cutting and bonfire and of course, on the beach.
.

Until Next Time,
