I have read the Fourth Amendment to the HOVENSA Concession Agreement and although it's not a perfect agreement, I do applaud the Governor for remaining committed to ensuring we realize the outcome that will be best for the Territory at this point in time: for the refinery to be sold and once again employ people on St Croix.  My biggest concern is our high unemployment rate, so to sell the refinery and increase our tax base is top priority. I do, however, realize the need to diversify our economy if we're going to have long-term sustainability.

 

The upcoming legislative session on August 7th is tasked with voting "yes" or "no". In the interest of time, understanding the sense of urgency St Croix is experiencing, I don't think it would behoove the Legislature to put off signing this Agreement. Despite that fact, I would like to share the Agreement with you and get your opinion.  Please click on the link below and email me at the address listed.  You can also give me a call if you would like to talk to me or one of my staff members.
