Senator Buckley Responds to Being Out of Territory
FREDERIKSTED, ST. CROIX - July 8, 2013

Last week the Senate President called for a full Session on Friday to amend Bill 30-0154.  Knowing she would not be in the Territory, Senator Judi Buckley immediately submitted a letter to Senator Malone's office asking to be excused.  Although his office confirmed receipt, it was inadvertently left off the record and her attendance was recorded as "absent".  Over the weekend, upon returning to the Territory, Senator Judi Buckley was informed the media reported that she was absent from the Session, and this concerned the Senator.

"I take the people's work very seriously, and respect the expectation the public has for Senators to show up and represent them.  I am very sorry that this oversight occurred, and have been assured it will not happen again.  I remain committed to always doing my best, and doing what is right."

Senator Judi Buckley was inaugurated to the US Virgin Islands 30th Legislature in January of 2013. Senator Buckley ran as an Independent, received the most votes of any freshman senator and received the third highest votes overall. The Senator is a member of the committees on Finance,Education & Workforce Development, Government Services & Housing, and Public Safety, Homeland Security & Justice.
