Senator Buckley to Co-host Food Fight! on the beach
Game Show Style Event Part of St Croix Food & Wine Experience Week
|
FREDERIKSTED, ST. CROIX - April 4, 2013
Food Fight! on the beach is a spirited competition that is part game show, part iron chef. Local and celebrity chefs will face trivia questions such as, "what was the cut of meat Lady Gaga wore?" and have their senses tested during the hilarious blind identification challenge. Spectators will have the opportunity to cheer on celebrity chefs Paula DaSilva, Mike Lata and Josef DeSimone, as they compete against local chefs. The event's co-hosts are tasked with Emceeing the challenges and keeping participants and attendees laughing and having fun throughout the entire event.
This year's St Croix Food and Wine Experience theme is "Farms, Food & Philanthropy" which is in-line with Senator Buckley's initiative to promote St Croix Agribusiness and healthy living by patronizing local farmer's markets. The Senator's website features an "Eat Local" page with descriptions of farm stands, coops and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, including hours of operation.
"I especially love this particular event because the competition requires the participating chefs to create dishes made with 100% local ingredients with virtually no time to plan - so they always come up with such unique and interesting creations that the audience gets to sample. Of course the added bonus is that the ticket sales go directly to the St Croix Foundation, an organization that I've been involved with in different capacity for years. I'm grateful to have been asked to be the co-hostess along with Kat; anytime I can combine great fun with a good cause I will be there!" stated Senator Buckley.
The Food Fight! on the beach is hosted by eat@canebay and begins at 4:30pm. Tickets are limited to 100 spectators and cost $75pp. Proceeds benefit the St Croix Foundation and their efforts to create positive change on St Croix by increasing the public's awareness of current and emerging needs in our community. Tickets for Food Fight! can be purchased at the St Croix Foundation or online at stcroixfoodandwine.com along with other St Croix Food and Wine Experience Week events.
