One of the most flattering ways to accentuate your unique beauty is to dress for your body type. Over the next few newsletters, we will discuss advice for four body types, which I categorize as b-o-d-x. Stay tuned to discover your top tips and share them with your friends!
If you are a b body type, you have a straight figure with a flatter derrière and tend to gain weight in the tummy/love handle area. Your main goal is to draw attention inward and upward. Here's a few tips for how to achieve this:
Tops: Tucking shirts in is a major no-no. Tops and jackets should fall just past your tummy/above your hips or longer-never shorter. Structured jackets, flowy feminine tops, all-over patterns or monochromatic dressing create flattering camouflage. To bring the attention upward, accessorize! Chunky necklaces, dazzling earrings and stylish scarves (in your eye-catching pop colours of course!) are fabulous ways to draw the eye upward to your beautiful face.
Bottoms: Avoid trousers with pleated fronts and opt for ones with a flat front or side zip in a relaxed fit or full-leg style. Mid-rise jeans in straight or bootcut styles in a dark wash are always chic. Pockets with decorations or flaps are especially flattering for your booty as well!
Dresses: Aim for three-quarter-length sleeves, v-shaped necklines and ruching across the tummy or a wrap-style for a timeless flattering look. Feel free to try a tummy shaper as well, there is no shame in that! Don't feel like you always need the perfect "little black dress" either. Dressing for your body type and wearing a pop colour will always be your best option!
