Memorial Day 2016

Brushing away dry grass strands
My fingers find the raised bronze warmth
Of letters that announce your presence.
With graceful countenance, a saintly sentinel
Silently consecrates the motion as a feathered friend settles
Into his caress, soothed by the fragrant Lilac
And flowers that swing in the quiet breath
Relieving this melancholy moment.
A small token honors the sky-ward service of your youth.
You whose radiance illumined me
Now return purple-petaled, delicate and
Rooted in the soil that smells of ancestry.

A Letter from Pooh
Beau Rivers, Ministerial Intern

"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying good-bye so hard" said Pooh.

How fitting I should find a quote from the Hundred Acre Wood to describe how I am feeling as we begin to say good-bye.  I remember during our first worship service together when Aaron jumped up on the front pew to lead us in the opening hymn!  From that moment on I would refer to Aaron as Tigger and myself as Pooh!

What a journey it has been to grow in love with you! We have explored new horizons together in the area of racial and social justice, we have grieved the loss of loved ones in our midst, we have shared our experiences of the holy, we have discussed new ideas that change how we see ourselves in the world, and discovered new ways to live out our mission at UUCW.

I want to thank you for welcoming me into the life of this congregation and into your personal lives as you have shared with me the joys and sorrows of your heart... It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your intern minister these past two years. Through our journey together I have received a glimpse of the depth and breadth of ministry no book could possibly impart. For that I am deeply grateful.

How hard it is to say good-bye... Yet a golden thread between our hearts remains, weaving together a beautiful tapestry of the love that shapes our lives. "Take my light to only help you see the same in you that now you see in me." Francis Anderson, Jr.
May you be blessed...

May you be blessed with all things good.
May your joys, like the stars at night be too numerous to count.
May beauty, order, and abundance be your constant companions.
May every doubt and fear be replaced by a deep abiding trust.
May you behold evidence of that which is greater than yourself.
And when there is only darkness and the storms of life are closing in,
May the light at the core of your being illuminate the world.
May music and laughter enliven your spirit and
May you be cradled in the arms of Love.
May you be blessed
And may others be blessed by you.
This is my heartfelt wish for you.

Many Blessings,

Beau
