Special Congregational Meeting
Regarding Solar Panels
January 10, 2016 at 11:15 am - Sanctuary
Bill Derr, President, Board of Management

The congregation will have a chance to vote on a proposal to have solar panels installed on the roof of Fellowship Hall at a special Congregational meeting on January 10, 2016, right after church services. This incredible opportunity for the UUCW to install solar panels is  possible thanks to the hard work, passion and dedication of Mara Pentlarge and the Solar Team (June Davenport, Kim McCoy, Dana Dorsett, John O'Dell, Art Shea, Peg Gifford, Lance McKee, Mike Peckar, and Aaron Payson.).

If the congregation votes to approve the solar panel installation plan, our electric bill will be reduced and we will be keeping with our 7th UU Principle, to have "respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." If we vote to install solar panels, we will be one of the first area congregations to do so. The UUCW will become a local leader in the fight against global warming and for a cleaner environment. Having solar panels will demonstrate to the  greater Worcester community that our congregation is a place that values the environment and strives to make positive changes in the world. The Solar panels should inspire people who care about the environment to check out our church. The details of the UUCW solar plan proposal will be sent out to the congregation in the near future.
