50/50 Collection - Jericho Road Worcester

As stated in their mission statement, Jericho Road Worcester bridges communities by matching the professional talents of volunteers with the needs of community-based nonprofit organizations to promote community development, strengthen social services, and enrich the lives of volunteers.

Jericho Road Worcester launched in June 2009 under the guidance of community churches and our nationally recognized fiscal agent, Jericho Road Project. Utilizing the skills of professionals from The First Unitarian Church and Unitarian Universalist of Worcester, as well as volunteers from the corporate and private sector Jericho Road Worcester seeks to build nonprofit capacity through two programs. Our two programs are Skills-Based Volunteering and The Leadership Connection (board development and training), contribute to JRW building nonprofit capacity for a stronger community.

Jericho Road Worcester began to provide direct services in the Worcester area in 2010. To date they have initiated over 70 Skills-Based Volunteer projects with organizations including AIDS Project Worcester, Arts Worcester, Girls, Inc., Boys and Girls Club, Dress for Success Worcester, Community Harvest Project, Pernet Family Service, Dismas Family Farm, Family Assistance Center of Central Mass., Lutheran Social Services, NEADS, Oak Hill CDC, Worcester Center for Crafts, Mass. Audubon, Master Singers of Worcester, Worcester Animal Rescue League, and Worcester Children's Chorus. Several nonprofits are awaiting matches with skilled professional volunteers. They are currently trying to find talented professionals who are open to volunteering on short-term, high-impact projects specializing in Fundraising, Finance, Strategic Planning, Marketing, Public Relations, IT, Web Design and Executive Coaching.

As a sustaining member of Jericho Road Worcester UUCW is proud to continue to inspire the involvement of members and friends as well as skilled volunteers and business professionals in the greater Worcester area to become involved in the unique endeavor.  The 50/50 collection this Sunday is an important part of our continuing commitment to this program.

Looking for a Few Good People!worshipassist

Worship at UUCW is the product of many voi ces, hands and hearts.  Each Sunday we look forward to hearing from each other about the important happenings in our lives and the world, and our worship experience is made rich and meaningful because of the variety of voices included in it.

!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP ON SUNDAY MORNINGS !!!

We are looking for people to become part of one of our Sunday Morning Worship Teams as a Worship Assistant (WA).  WAs work with the Worship Leader to provide any of the following:  help setting up the sanctuary prior to the service, lighting the chalice, welcoming the congregation to worship, presenting the opening words, introducing the offertory or assisting with a ritual.  You do not have to have any previous training, we'll work with anyone willing to lend their presence to this program.

Congregation Leaders!  Do you have a special church program, project or group that you are promoting?  Becoming part of a Worship Team on the Sunday(s) before your activity gives you a moment to introduce the congregation to your activity.

New to the congregation?  This is a wonderful way to become known and to have an opportunity to introduce yourself.

Willing to give it a try?!  The please visit HERE to sign up on any upcoming Sunday morning.

What more information or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Minister.
