Value Added Roster Verification

Teachers in value added subjects will be receiving their value added data in June.  In order to ensure the accuracy of this data, teachers should verify their rosters by this Friday, May 3rd. The Department has provided guidance on roster verification, and if you have questions, please email compass@la.gov.

End of year Compass Reflection

At the start of the year, teachers set student learning targets to represent what students would accomplish this year. As the year comes to a close, teachers and  principals should reflect on the extent to which students met these targets and what improvements a teacher can make for the coming year.

To facilitate reflections on what students achieved this year, the Department has released these additional resources for the Classroom Support Toolbox:

Planning for Next Yearplanning

ThClassroom Support Toolbox contains a set of helpful planning tools as teachers begin preparation for the coming year.

  • What will students need to learn next year? The toolbox contains information on the math and ELA standards that teachers in Louisiana will use next year.
  • What planning resources are available to me? As we shift to more rigorous standards for students, our state is no longer using the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum that prescribes to teachers how to teach.  Instead, teachers across Louisiana have developed sample year-long plans for each grade level for math and ELA. In June, there will be sample unit plans available that fit with these long term plans.  All of these plans are samples that should be adapted by teams of teachers to fit the needs of your specific students.
  • Who can help me with the planning process? There is one Louisiana Teacher Leader at every school in the state. All our state's Teacher Leaders participated in a two day training event this month. Your school's Teacher Leader is familiar with the Common Core State Standards, the related instructional shifts, and the resources in the Classroom Support Toolbox.
