Superintendent's Message

Dear Colleagues,

The events of last week in Connecticut and the holy season upon us remind me of the gravity of our most important charge: the love of children, a deep concern for their welfare, and an abiding faith in their potential. At the most fundamental level, all education starts with these things. They are universal to good schooling.

I have been blessed over the last two weeks to visit schools across the state to make Top Gains and Believe and Include awards to thousands of students and educators. These awards honor the accomplishments and creativity of educators around the state. They speak for the truth of our work: it is the love, belief, and ingenuity of those closest to our students that fuels real progress.

I ask that we all honor our colleagues in Connecticut and the children they love and serve by keeping them in our thoughts and prayers this season. I also ask all citizens of our state to honor you and your efforts this season, for it is in your hands that we place the most precious gifts of all each day.

I look forward to the new year with great hope. Ed-Connect will be back online January 9.

Thank you and God bless you in this holiday season.
