PAA Action Alert |
Call the White House! If you live in New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or South Carolina, Thursday is your day to call President Obama with the message to give all students the same education his children are getting! Abandon Race to the Top and stop privatizing public schools.
Then take a minute to like the new Facebook page, Stop the Race to the Top, which is dedicated to resisting the ineffective and damaging mandates of Arne Duncan's Department of Education.
That's where you can also find the whole list of states and the day your state is assigned to call in! Contact the White House weekly at 202-456-1111 on your state's designated day. Twitter hashtag for this action is #StopRttT. |
PAA News | Check out PAA's Philadelphia founding member Helen Gym's excellent article in the Philadelphia Public School Notebook, "Parents deserve a better measure of school quality": "At the GreatPhillySchools website, a definition of quality is revealed as little more than a simplistic interpretation of limited vision and even more limiting data. As parents, we deserve more from those who promise greatness." |
Join us! | If you share our overall goals of progressive, positive education reform and more parent input in education policy making, we invite you to affiliate with us if you are an existing group, or to form a new PAA chapter. The more of us there are, the stronger our voice will be at every level. Here's how! |
