President's Message
By the time you read this newsletter, the nation will have elected a new president. I am sure things will have totally settled down and no matter who is elected, we will be back to "normal." Markets will calm and start an unimpeded upward movement, employment will rise, energy prices will decrease and business will surge simply because we will have made our choice collectively as a nation.
Actually, I don't expect any of this to take place no matter who is elected. Markets will still go up and down and businesses will make decisions to expand or contract depending on what the current economic conditions dictate.
Hence, the need for our diligence in understanding our clients, their needs and concerns and being the trusted advisor they deserve. This is not an easy task. But it is a goal the Society strives to help each of us achieve.
Towards that end, our speaker this month will be talking about tax aspects of buying and selling a business. This is a real challenge in today's tax environment given the pending changes. I have noted an increase in businesses being bought and sold given the anticipated change in tax law that is looming. Each of us has clients that have either gone through or are contemplating such a move. Please join us at our luncheon this month and please bring a CPA and an attorney to hear this timely presentation. I look forward to seeing each of you there. |
