* Saudi Arabia - 10,000 Solar panels per day required to achieve Saudi Government goal
Riyadh - 3 October 2013. In a country where 16 GW of solar-photovoltaic capacity are set to be installed by 2032 - of which 6 GW are targeted for installation before 2020 - the time is ripe for local and international businesses to get involved in the Saudi PV market.
* Saudi Arabia: Thai Firm in JV fo solar farms in Saudi Arabia - SPCG, a leading developer of solar-farm projects and a leader in the solar-energy business, has signed an agreement with Malasel Group of Saudi Arabia to set up a joint venture for engineering procurement and construction of solar farms in that country, SPCG chairperson Wandee Khunchornyakong said. * Saudi Arabia - Makkah to establish SR 2.4 billion solar energy project. The project will be established on an area of about two million square meters. About 20 international consortiums consisting of about 100 companies will compete for the execution of the project," Mayor Osama bin Fadl Al-Bar told business daily Al-Eqtisadiah.
* Saudi Arabia:ACWA Power Plans to Raise Funds From Sukuk to IPO for Solar Push.
The company may offer $800 million from the sale of sukuk this year before an initial public offering on the Saudi exchange at the end of 2014, Chief Executive Officer Paddy Padmanathan told reporters in Dubai today. ACWA aims to start its first solar project in the kingdom this year, he said.
* Saudi solar plans taking shape - In an article published Tuesday in Saudi Arabian newspaper Arab News, Abdulhadi Al Mureeh, executive director of National Solar Systems, said KA.CARE had "completed laying out the legal, organizational and economic basis for launching alternative energy projects in cooperation and coordination with government authorities like the Ministries of Finance and Petrol, Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA), King Abdulaziz City, ARAMCO Saudi Arabia, Saudi Electric Company and other entities." Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - DarSolar formed by Saudi Arabian solar advocates, is taking its first steps toward attracting international partners to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
* Kuwait - Kuwait to build its first solar power plant - 280MW solar thermal power plant - located in Al Abdaliya, just southwest of the farming...
* Jordan - Jordan government has endorsed a project to use solar power in public buildings to generate electricity in public buildings to reduce expenditure and encourage use of renewable energy, official said today.
* Morocco - Morocco turns up the heat on renewable energy .The UAE recently gave Morocco $100 million (Dh367.3 million) to support its programme of building solar and wind power plants. This is reported to be part of a partnership to finance development projects in Morocco worth more than $5 billion over five years.
