What We're Reading ........
|
I Wear the Black Hat by Chuck Klosterman
It's hard to describe the type of books Klosterman writes, but he never disappoints. This time he tackles the "Bad Guy" in popular culture and examines them in a way that's just as entertaining as it is thought provoking. He even tackles a "villainously bad rock band " (He really hates the Eagles)

The Humans by Matt Haig
One terrific book that manages to cover aliens, prime numbers, English Springer spaniels, love, death and the
meaning of human existence. A tender, funny novel about the often irrational ways humans behave as told by an extraterrestrial assassin.
Live long and prosper, Matt Haig!

The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin
For fans of Downton Abbey, an easy, enjoyable read about an American heiress who marries an English duke and her struggles to fit into the early 20th century aristocracy. Great characters both above and below the stairs.

The Inquisitor's Key by Jefferson Bass
This was the best Body Farm book yet! I loved the dual time
element to the mystery of the bones found in Avignon.
The examination of the Shroud of Turin from a forensic
anthropologist's point of view was fascinating and made me
take a long it at it again. Even if you've never read any of the Body Farm books, but enjoy historical mysteries, you will enjoy this great read.

The Panther by Nelson Demille
Wit and sarcasm flows from John Corey, when he and
his wife are sent to Yemin to catch The Panther, an American born terrorist.

|
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This book has gotten a lot of hype over the past couple weeks, and rightly so! It is both happy and sad with great energy and humor. Anyone who has found a true friend in the midst of a tough situation will be able to relate to Hazel and Augustus. With sarcasm, pain, wisdom, and humor Green has you turning the pages until you finish the book before you know it!

Our Featured Children's Character This Month Is Froggy !
|

The beloved children's book character by Jonathan London. There are at least 23 Froggy books, starting in 1992 with FROGGY GETS DRESSED. It is on the New York Public Library's 100 Picture Books Everyone Should Know list, dating back to The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
The next book is FROGGY GETS A DOGGY, due February 7, 2014. Froggy is every kid. All the stories are based on true experiences the author had with his sons Aaron and Sean, and some of his own memories of growing up, just exaggerated a little for humor. City of Bones Hits theaters 8/7
Cassandra Clare's debut novel, and the first in the Mortal Instruments series. It's a sprawling urban fantasy packed with just about every type of creature known to the genre, and still spacious enough to hold more. At the core, though, this is a compelling story about family secrets and coming-of-age identity crises.
Entertainment Weekly "Prepare to be hooked."
