Triton College Celebrates Partnerships and Community

Triton College values its many partnerships with individuals, groups and organizations that support our student success efforts.  This issue of Triton in Touch highlights the relationships formed with alumni in our community, donors that support the Triton College Foundation and our educational partners in our University Center that put our students on a path to continue their academic success.  We look forward to continued opportunities to develop partnerships with members of our community in support of our students, graduates and friends of Triton College.

Triton Welcomes Graduates of Fire Science and EMT Programs

In a room of teachers and their students, workplace pals, and even a father-and-son legacy, the feeling of camaraderie and family was palpable among the crowd of fire fighters and emergency management specialists at a recent Triton College Alumni reception.

Fire Science and EMT Alumni reconnecting at the recent reception
More than 40 alumni of the college's Fire Science Technology and EMT programs returned to Triton's campus on Oct. 25 to reconnect with one another and the school. Graduates representing the classes of 1976 through 2011 from various area fire departments, including Melrose Park, Franklin Park, Hillside, Northlake, Berkeley, River Grove and La Grange Park, as well as current students, attended the reception.

Triton College Foundation Supports Student Success at President's Reception

For twenty years, the Triton College Foundation has hosted the President's Reception to raise much needed funds for student scholarships, facilities enhancements and support of Triton College and its mission of student success. With close to 500 guests in attendance and more than $40,000 raised at the 20th Annual President's Reception hosted this past November, the Foundation raised the bar in its partnership with the institution to support the educational pursuits of our students.

Mr. David King, Foundation Board President 2000-2012 and Triton alumnus, was honored for his commitment and contributions to the Foundation and his tireless efforts in support of Triton College and its students. Through his efforts and those of the Triton College Foundation Board of Directors, Triton College students in need are awarded the resources to pay for classes and textbooks in their pursuits of higher education year after year.

Triton's University Center Puts Students on Path to Success

Student success. It's at the core of the mission of Triton College and is a goal the institution strives to meet for both current students and graduates. In order to encourage student success and the continued pursuit of higher education after graduating from Triton College, the institution has established a University Center and partnered with three public and two private institutions to offer students an opportunity to earn their bachelor or graduate degree without leaving Triton's campus.

The current University Center partners include Southern Illinois University, National-Louis University, Benedictine University, Governors State University and Eastern Illinois University. Each partner offers select bachelor or graduate degrees in programs including Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Fire Science, Health Administration, Nursing, Public Administration, General Studies and Social Work.
