Condolences:
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform our membership that longtime AIA Cleveland member,
William A. Gould, FAICP and 2015 Robert P. Bergman Prize Winner passed away on Tuesday, April 25th. William's wife Harriet shared that receiving the Cleveland Arts Prize (CAP) was one of the most important awards of his life. Advocacy

Would it surprise you to learn that Ohio is the only state in the country that doesn't recognize Lien Rights for architects? AIA Ohio has formed a task force to explore this subject, co-chaired by Christopher Toddy AIA Cleveland, and Terry Welker FAIA Dayton. We are presenting a series of articles on this advocacy issue of vital importance.
Here's what you can do to help, and to learn more:
  • The AIA OH Lien Rights Task Force is looking for short, compelling stories from members pertaining to the hardship of not having lien rights in Ohio or pertaining to the successes of having lien rights in other states.  Please send these to [email protected].
  • Consider attending a session (FR307) on lien rights at the AIA national convention on Friday, 28 April 2017 from 3:30-4:30 PM, or afterwards listening to its recording on AIAU
We have four articles planned, but as the story continues to unfold, we hope there will be more. Please click on the image above or THIS LINK to read the second part of this four-part series.
